French publisher Ubi Soft has today announced that it has extended its agreement with Cyan Worlds to continue developing and publishing games for the Myst franchise until 2008.

"Since its first release in 1993, Myst has become one of the best-selling video games of all time," said Yves Guillemot, president and CEO of Ubi Soft Entertainment. "Ubi Soft continues to build on this success and has recently expanded the brand to the new generation of consoles. By renewing our partnership with Cyan Worlds, we demonstrate our long-term commitment to one of the world's leading video game brands. Working hand in hand with Cyan Worlds, we plan to continue to surprise and delight fans of the Myst series of games for years to come."

There have been three Myst games released to date, and today's announcement means that fans looking forward to the release of Myst Online next year don't need to worry about it being the last in the series.
