Ubi Soft has officially announced Rayman M, a new game in its Rayman series for the Sony PlayStation 2. The game's action takes place in the worlds introduced in Rayman 2, but now up to four players will be able to compete head-to-head in real-time. Joining Rayman as playable characters will be Ly, the fairy, and a Globox. To balance the playing field, all of these new characters will posses Rayman's running, jumping, climbing, sliding, flying, and shooting abilities.

Essentially, the gameplay in Rayman M consists of setting traps for and attacking adversaries in order to be the last players standing. Players will also be able to earn bonuses and pick up special items to gain added powers in battle. Rayman M will be released on the PS2 in November and it will be shown at the upcoming E3 event. An Xbox version is also in development and it will be released in 2002.
