Turtle Beach announces Star Wars gaming headsets, will be revealed at E3

New headsets will include characters and artwork from various Stars Wars programs; full reveal slated for E3 2014 next month.

Video game headset maker Turtle Beach announced today that it is working with Lucasfilm for an upcoming line of Star Wars-themed headsets.

Turtle Beach's Star Wars headset line will feature characters and artwork from the Star Wars franchise, including the TV show Star Wars Rebels. They will include swappable speaker plates, which will be sold as accessories, allowing you to create a unique headset.

These headsets will launch in 2014, but there's no word yet on pricing. The first headset and speaker plate designs will be announced at E3 next month.

"As a company in the gaming and entertainment space, we can't help but be excited by the prospect of working on Star Wars headset designs in collaboration with Lucasfilm,” Turtle Beach chief marketing officer Bob Picunko said in a statement. "We are looking forward to introducing state-of-the-art headsets that appeal to both casual and elite players who are fans of Star Wars."

Star Wars is not the first major entertainment franchise Turtle Beach has teamed up with, but it may be the most prominent. Turtle Beach also makes special Call of Duty: Ghosts and Marvel headsets.

Last week, director J.J. Abrams announced the cast for upcoming movie Star Wars: Episode VII. Electronic Arts is currently working on multiple Star Wars games, including a new Star Wars: Battlefront from Battlefield developer DICE.

Aw man for some reason I see them giving us x-wing and tie pilot helmets with the headsets built in. How awesome would that be?

I will buy these and never open them. Sell them on Ebay 10 years from now and Triple my money easily! Also, I will buy another pair for my own uses ^.^

It's fine if these headsets are relatively cheap or as good as other headsets in their price range, but I'm not gonna get (Jedi Mind) tricked into buying it just because it has the Star Wars name attached to it. You can't even enjoy the cool Star Wars-y look of it when you use them since they're on your head the whole time. Just buy some regular good ones.

Don't care for Turtle Beach headsets. Bought an $80 pair and they buzz.

Oh god, now we are on to the "hype everybody up while making ***loads of money" phase. Even if I wanted Star Wars apparel (like I don't already have enough) I wouldn't want a "brand name" headset that will cost me an extra 100$ because it is officially licensed. Especially considering the next Star Wars game is a reboot of an already amazing series, to this day I play SWBF1/2 on my PC. I guarantee that this reboot will not be getting played 10 years down the line.

I bought a set.. The DXL1 about 9 months ago. I've used them about 10 times in total (because of staying in a hotel). Now the left side  has no sound.

I remember buying a razr swtor headset, absolutely loved till I found out how shoddy the build quality was, lasted a year(right after the warranty expired) save a few days. It was in perfect condition and then one day it started to crack just above the speakers till both came off the headband. Hopefully turtle beach can succeed where Razr failed in terms of build quality.

I bought their Z6A product, who's plastic crumbled to dust every 3 months. Using their warranty, I went thru 3 within a year.  My advice: Do NOT buy Turtle Beach.

If one of them doesn't look like Princess Leia's hair buns from A New Hope, I'll be sorely disappointed.

@Smosh150 I bet they put extensive resources to make sure it only worked like 13-14 months or so, lol. People would find out if there was a hidden clock or something that told the device to stop functioning after a year had passed.
