Atari has today announced that it plans to release Trivial Pursuit Unhinged for the PS2, Xbox, and PC in time for Christmas this year. The game, which is currently in development at Artech Studios, will feature game questions delivered by six celebrity hosts and a number of options that wouldn't be possible with the original board game, such as questions based on multimedia clips. The celebrities that will appear in the game and the question categories they'll be responsible for are as follows:
Terry Bradshaw - Sports & Leisure
Brooke Burke - People & Places
John Cleese - History
Whoopi Goldberg - Arts & Entertainment
John Ratzenberger - Wild Card
Bill "The Science Guy" Nye - Science & Nature
"Bringing the Trivial Pursuit Unhinged game to next-generation console platforms will allow us to take everything people love about the board game even further by offering more ways to interact with other players, exciting new gameplay features, and entertaining multimedia questions," said Nancy MacIntyre, vice president of marketing for Atari. "The Trivial Pursuit Unhinged game will stay true to the spirit and essence of the classic board game while also fully embracing the pace and distinctive style of console gameplay."
In addition to a classic gameplay mode, Trivial Pursuit Unhinged will feature both flash and unhinged modes of play. In the unhinged mode, players will be able to earn bonus points, bet on other players answering questions, and even steal wedges from other players. Further details on Trivial Pursuit Unhinged are scarce at present, but we'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
