Dynamix confirmed yesterday's news that Starsiege: Tribes is getting close to going gold. The company is looking for 1,000 dedicated game servers to help the company show of the multiplayer capabilities of the title once it releases.

"A lot of people are realizing this game is going to be the most important breakthrough in multiplayer gaming since Quake," said Jeff Tunnell, executive producer of Starsiege Tribes and Dynamix co-founder. "While our team is here 24 hours a day finishing this game, gamers are lining up around the country to participate in the Tribes launch."

Don't know if you're up to the task? If you qualify, you'll get a free copy of the game and you can pocket the US$39.99 you'd be paying if you bought the game at your local retailer.

"Our ability to have servers throughout the nation is critical for this game's success," said Scott Youngblood, designer of Starsiege Tribes. "The people hosting this game will help us develop the Tribes community and ultimately the games' legacy."

Tribes is a first person shooter that allows for up to 32-players in a squad-based multiplayer gaming field. The one feature that should attract gamers to the title is that it seamlessly allows players to run from the inside of buildings to the great outdoors.

So what do you need to have to qualify for the dedicated server program? Here's a listing of what you'll need to have:

- Permanent connection to the Internet via a reliable ISP with an ISDN (128 Kbps) line or better

- Minimum 266MHz Pentium II processor or equivalent

- Minimum 64 MB of RAM

- Windows 95/98 or Windows NT operating system

- Able to run the game server a minimum of 8 hours a day
