Tribes 2 Delayed
Sierra and Dynamix have officially confirmed that they will delay the release of Tribes 2 in order to allow for extra testing in the upcoming beta.
Sierra and Dynamix have decided to delay the release of Tribes 2, which was previously expected to ship late this fall. Sierra has yet to announce a new ship date for the game, but the planned public beta test will start soon.
Dave Georgeson, senior producer at Dynamix, said, "Because Tribes 2 is a 'triple-A' title, we decided it would be best to extend the beta test and appropriately finesse the game so it meets the highest standards. This means we will be able to ensure the greater compatibility testing and play balancing that a game of this scale requires."
Tribes 2, a team-based multiplayer shooter, has undergone several significant technical revisions late in its development, including an update to both the terrain texture system and the collision detection system. Recent builds of Tribes 2 have shown rapid progress, and we'll have more on the game once it enters beta.
