What games were this month's best sellers in the United States? We now know, as the NPD Group has released its sales report for new physical sales during March 2016, and The Division sits at number one while Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 slid down from two to nine--Street Fighter V has fallen off the list entirely from its spot at number seven.

Far Cry Primal, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, Grand Theft Auto V, and EA Sports UFC 2 round out the top five. You can see the full top 10 list at the bottom of this article.

NPD Group analyst Liam Callahan said in a statement that March 2016 physical software sales are eight percent higher than last March, rising from $395.4 million to $425.8 million. Overall sales of new games rose by 26 percent, and games launching in Q1 2016 sold 28 percent more in March than Q1 2015's games did in the same time frame.

Callahan highlighted The Division and said this past month was the best launch month for any game in the Tom Clancy series to date. The Division sold 40 percent more than Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, the next best-selling Tom Clancy game.

Callahan also mentioned that, thanks to The Division and Far Cry Primal, "Ubisoft is the number one software publisher for Q1 2016." Its unit sales increased nearly 130 percent with its dollar sales increasing over 200 percent.

A Nintendo spokesperson shared a statement on Twilight Princess's performance this month, saying it has sold more units in its first month than any first-party Wii U game other than Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Super Mario Maker, and Mario Kart 8.

"The game's strong reception provides a great start to the 30th year of The Legend of Zelda franchise, which continues to be one of gaming’s most beloved and iconic series," the spokesperson said. "Together with the Hyrule Warriors Legends game for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, the two titles combined to sell over 400,000 units."

It's also worth noting that if you split up each game by individual platform, then Pokken Tournament would be number four on the top ten list.
