One of the highlights of Microsoft's jam-packed press event at the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo was the first public look at Tony Hawk: Ride. Hawk, himself, was on hand to show off the game's full-sized skateboard controller, which will allow players to control in-game action much like riding an actual skateboard. (GameSpot's own stage demo is below.)

Several pro skaters appeared in a video shown during Microsoft's Tony Hawk Ride unveiling, including Paul Rodriguez, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins, and the legendary Christian Hosoi. Today, Activision reconfirmed that all three athletes would appear in the game, alongside 12 other sponsored skaters. These include newcomers to the series, such as Cara Beth Burnside, Mike Mo Capaldi (pictured), Steve Nesser, and Alex Olson.

The full roster for Tony Hawk Ride is below. Developed by Chicago-based Robomodo, the game is slated to ship this October for the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

i think they actualy spent more time on making the board. than putting new stuff in the game. and it sucks that you cant use a standard controller. and i thought there was a halfpipe chalenge in THPS for the GBC.

I guess Bam Margera is too busy going to rehab to be in this one XD

How long do you think it will take for somebody to drill some guide holes, put some trucks on it, some black magic, and ride this board down the street for real?

Just cuz ur frikin lives are sitting down on a frikin couch playing halo and l4d doesnt mean other ppl have the leg muscle to actually stand up on a real board and do triks once in a while, no matter how awesome skate 2 is its still not real skating, its just moving joysticks.

I just don't like where the industry is going with all of these gimmicky controllers and remotes and add-ons. Give me a regular controller and a copy of Skate 2 and that's all I'll ever need. Until Skate 3, that is.

This really is the biggest load of %*@^ i've ever seen. its *&^% in every way. The saddest thing tho for the actual real and very much dying skate indudtry is that this load of *&^% will still be less expensive than an actual real set up.

wooooohaaaaahooooooooo SMASH, there goes my face slatted all over the table. GOD this is asking for trouble. i can see it now, son smashed his stupid face while playing this game. kid falls over and leg goes snap. i got a better idea, go and RIDE on a real skateboard...

All i wish is that when they make Skate 3 (which they will, EA loves money) they add some of the good skaters from the tony hawk franchise like Rodney Mullen, Bob Burnquist, Mike Valley and Ryan Sheckler

See, This is what happens when you surround yourself with "yes men". You get idiotic ideas like this and no one has the balls to tell you it sucks more than an old vacuum. ..

I actually thought the physics in Skate 2 were really bad. Everything just felt extremely clunky to me. I'll give this new board thing a shot. I'm not one of those people that stays in my house all day so I have enough muscle to stand on this thing for a while.

I'm fine with the normal controllers thank you very much.

duke-nukem11, Bam Margera is a tool, and it is precisely his Jackass-style antics that ruined the Tony Hawk franchise. Now that Tony is feeling competition from the Skate franchise, and he decided to reboot the Tony Hawk franchise -- first by firing NeverSoft, and second by changing the controller mechanics -- he was wise to drop all the juvenile Viva-La-Bam crap and re-focus on the skateboarding.

Fail!!!!! this thing looks weak, I am also alittle worried about the way this type of gaming is going just because guitar hero, rock band, and the wii were money makers does not mean every game needs some stupid special controller. Whats next a football to throw around for Madden, GTA 5, a stearing wheel and a gun combination controller, NHL 11 a hockey stick and a puck to shoot around in your living room where does it end, and I am not just raining on this game DJ Hero seem like another cheap cash grab

there are so many problems i see with this...what if someone is missing a leg, or has a foot injury and wants to play this? When i play a video game i don't want to have to stretch before i play it.....i hate the direction the TH series is going, it used to be sick, now it's trying too hard to be skate-hero.

N4Bi

playing the game actually looks a little tedious. it looks more tedious than the wii. i think i would rather get a skate 3 then THR. The Tony Hawk series was great, but now they are just trying too hard. it doesnt even have open world. WHAT??? not cool. if you are a hardcore Tony Hawk game player then i'm sure you will love it. i'm probably not going to get this though.

Tony Hawk's series hasn't been the same since THUG1. Project 8 could have been good if it had a decent create a character and create a park. Proving Grounds was just a complete mess and IMO signaled the end of the franchise. Unfortunately Activision thinks otherwise and tries to squeeze the last bit of money out of it by coming up with an idiotic Skate "sim" attempting to claw back some of the market that EA's Skate has made. However I do not see this working, the game looks like a Wii game for a start and I doubt alot of gamers have the room to use such a device in their homes, Your gonna need atleast 2-3sq metres space to use that thing. What a load of rubbish... *goes to play some more Skate 2*

I kind of laughed when the obvious was stated on the list.Of course Tony Hawk will be part of the roster. Why name a game after him? Man...Rodney Mullen...I hope by the next Skate game we can do Caspers... BTW How the hell can I do a Casper on that board for the Tony Hawk game?

This looks so unfun..i agree it is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Go back to THUG 1 & 2 Neversoft and things will look up again..The sad part is this crap is gonna sell like crazy because of the kiddies.

i looked at the gameplay on youtube. looks fun but that board does not look very sturdy. i can imagine the lawsuits of a couple of horizontally challegened people breaking the board.

Rodney Mullen needs to be on the next Skate game. He's like a skating god..

RIP Tony Hawk. This seems like a half baked cash in. With neversoft dedicated to guitar hero, I think the series should be put to rest. I expected all the time since the release of proving ground to be put to good use in bringing the old Hawk back, but I guess I was wrong.

this game actually looks really good. i like how they are making this game like the classic tony hawk games.
