According to the current issue of Famitsu magazine, Tomy is working on a new strategy role-playing game from the Ziods universe. Titled Zoids Tactics, the game is slated for release in Japan sometime this summer, according to the publisher, and will be priced at 7,140 yen ($66).

Zoids Tactics will be based on the popular Zoids anime series, which dates from 1999. The game will feature characters from the original anime, such as Van and Fiona.

The game uses a mission-based system, in which the player must satisfy conditions to advance. Battles will feature mech-to-mech zoid combat in a 3D environment. As in previous Zoids games, players will be able to customize their zoid mechs by swapping parts.

This will be the fourth Zoids game from Tomy and the first for the PlayStation 2. The previous three were action games released exclusively for the GameCube.
