Interplay has landed the top two talents behind Tomb Raider in a deal to create a new game development partner.

Tony Gard and Paul Douglas - who left Core before E3 - will head up Confounding Factor, a company based in the west of England. Their first project - working title Leviathan - is slated for release in 1999.

Interplay has signed a multi-title, worldwide publishing agreement with the new firm.

While at Core Design, Gard originated the concept for and served as lead artist on Tomb Raider. Douglas was lead programmer on the game.
