The Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was designed "from the ground up" for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and thus will not be available on PC, developer Crystal Dynamics has confirmed on the game's forums.
"Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was designed and rebuilt from the ground up for next-generation consoles. At this time a PC update is not planned," the company said.
Crystal Dynamics producer Scott Amos said last month that the studio was open to the idea of bringing the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition to PC "if it makes sense."
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition launches on January 28, 2014 for Xbox One and PS4. The game will be available as a physical product, as well as digitally through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
Crystal Dynamics last month defended the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, stating that the project was "not a simple facelift," as some gamers had claimed.
The game runs in 1080p, costs $60, and is described as a "fully rebuilt" version of the original. It features an all-new Lara model "created to take advantage of the power of next-gen consoles," as well as TRESS FX technology that promises to deliver "realistic" hair simulation and motion. Every strand of Lara's hair will be "physically active."
