Tokyo Diary: Day Four
TOKYO - It's a long long walk to the other side of Tokyo Station. Oh yes, a very long walk.
TOKYO - While the skies over Tokyo were cloudy and rainy today, the climate inside the train stations and trains themselves was heating up just as the Tokyo Game Show rolled around. There is nothing worse than being on a train for a 40-plus minute ride, sweating bullets, and not being able to move. Probably the only thing worse is carrying a bag full of show materials on the train and walking back from the train station here to the hotel.
But the good news was that the first day of the Tokyo Game Show has wrapped up, and boy was it a busy day. Nothing too out of the ordinary happened today. But the shopping section of the show wasn't nearly as good as expected. Sure, there were lots of goods, but as I've said before, this country does not have any shirts over Large.
One of the oddest things seen today was a TokiMemo life size girl being sold for around US$500. In case you're not familiar with TokiMemo, it's a very popular series of high school dating simulators that stars anime-style girls. If you're TOO into the game, you could buy these life-size dolls and put them in your own home (and I don't even wanna think about what sort of sick person would want these).
As it's pretty late, I'm going to end this entry early. So get reading all of those TGS News stories!
