Titanfall's first DLC is called Expedition, 2v2 Last Titan Standing mode on the way

Respawn reveals the game's first map pack expansion today at PAX East; new mode will be delivered through free update sometime in the future.

Today during a PAX East panel, Respawn Entertainment officially announced that Titanfall's first expansion pack is called Expedition. The DLC will arrive in May, presumably for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.

The maps are called Swampland, Runoff, and Wargames. The DLC is included with the $25 Titanfall DLC pass, though it's not clear what it will cost as a standalone download. Two other map pack expansions are coming to Titanfall, though Respawn hasn't said when they will be delivered.

Respawn also confirmed today at PAX East that a new 2v2 Last Titan Standing mode is coming to the game as a free update sometime in the future. There will also be new Burn Cards, the developer said.

The developer also revealed a new "hashtag" system for Titanfall, through which players with similar interests can play together. It's unclear how this will work and we plan to follow up with Respawn to get clarity on the matter.

Finally, Respawn teased that customization options and competitive player rankings could come to Titanfall one day. Daily challenges and special tweaks for existing game modes might also appear in the game eventually, the developer said.

Panel host Geoff Keighley, who spent three weeks at Respawn working on a feature, also revealed that the studio prototyped a single-player mode for Titanfall. Unfortunately, no further details or images of this mode were revealed today during the panel.

Whiny whiny whine whine whine...

"Srsly you need to remove all bots, remove all Titans, add in 150 more guns that are all virtually identical, add a billion customization options that have no affect on the gameplay, change it to a modern-day setting, add a complete single-player campaign and add killstreaks and a horde mode."

Yeah, they already made that game, it's called Call of Duty. Go back to playing that.

The game feels incomplete and bland. There isn't enough upgrades and customization. There isn't enough to make you care about leveling up. I think I'll skip the dlcs and seasons pass until they complete the game. Until then I'll just go back to Ghosts.

This should have been in the game from the beginning. There really isn't enough content to keep folks around and one of the reasons I feel the player base will dwindle sooner rather than later. Thankfully some features are going to be added free of charges which I take as a nod the game was released ahead of schedule.

Teasing a single-player mode.... You bastards. :oP

The rest of the new features seem pretty cool though, especially the fact the new modes will be free.

They should release a 1v1 mode along with a small but manageable map to go with it. A 2 vs 2 Last Titan Standing mode isnt exactly what I would have expected though. Don't how to receive the new but I see a lot of space on the game mode list so I'm sure they're thinking of ways to fulfill their consumers needs.

Wow... I've never heard so much complaining in one place... This is why I could never work in the video game industry.  You folks have got to have a ton of patience to deal with all this whining from all these people with a sense of entitlement!  Tough there is some feedback on here that truly expresses opinion in a positive/productive manner, there are also a lot of trivial things posted by the "entitled" who just seem angry and hell-bent on making everyone aware they feel like it's "no fair".  They must not have many life-responsibilities to be able to come on here and bitch about these kinds of irrelevant things. I've played the game a few times, consider it above average, and will purchase the season pass (without expectations other than I like what you've already produced).

If you don't like the game, go and sell it before the value depreciates.  No one forced you to purchase anything.  If you've purchased the season pass already, shame on you for not testing the product before you dish out money for more of it. If you're truly disappointed about the product, consider your "bad" purchase a lesson learned and don't buy anything from Respawn again.  My guess is you'll bitch about this until the next product comes out, then you'll buy it and bitch some more.  All the while you'll publicly post your bitching for all of us to swallow.

Go get a girlfriend, a job, or an education (or a combination of any of these) and consider not playing video games at all.  Your expectations are inherently too high, and it doesn't matter what any gaming vendor puts out, you're always going to bitch that it wasn't something more never fulfilling that gaping hole in your head with satisfaction... "only 3 map packs, why not more?", "only 60fps, why not more?", "it doesn't jerk me off, why not?"  Jesus f****** Christ!  Get a life!

Ahh boo-hoo.   TF didn't support Dual GPU's.  You do know dual GPU set-ups are almost completely unnecessary and show that you have more money than brains.... right?

I mean, I've been playing TF with maxed out graphics and all ...with no problems... using just 1 card.

That goes for everyone out there trying to game on a PC with multiple video cards stacked in them.

It does not make you look cool. it actually makes you look stupid to waste that much money on.... what amounts to just about nothing for an improvement in graphics.

So your opinion is no longer valid.

IE.  Smart people buy a 350 video card today... then 6 years later buy a new generation video card.

Dumb people buy a 350 video card today... buy another 350 video card today... etc..

And by the time I have to buy another card 6 years down the road.   That new card will be so far ahead in performance compared to what you tried to drop 700+ dollars on today....   It's not worth trying to SLI and Crossfire.  it's a gimmick and always has been.

Last pilot standing, is what they need.

There is already a Last Titan Standing....

Ain't buying it since i already stoppped playing this Titaflop after not even having instant dual gpu support. It now supposedly has dual gpu support but i want something different. Titanfall ain't delivering what i want, not even closely since it's way too casual-designed.

Titanfall has been fun but I'm about ready to stop playing it.  Too many tweaks they need to make but haven't, particularly with weapon/ability balance and the pain-in-the-*** unlock system.  Also some really stupid design decisions like not being able to turn cloak off (it makes it very hard to aim down the sights).

TashunkoSapa

Three maps per DLC is underwhelming. I'd rather pay for a $50 or more for season pass if they include more stuff like new weapons, modes, etc

A horde/bot mode of some kind would be great as well. Sometimes you just want to relax a bit.

It's an awesome game as it is and I would support its further development and expansion if they promise more creativity.

Eh, no go for me. Titanfall is nothing but the beta for Titanfall 2.

R4gn4r0k
R4gn4r0k

They said you would save 5$ when buying the season pass. So one would assume the DLC would cost 10$ separately if there will be 3 DLC packs.

10$ for only 3 maps and no other content is a total rip-off.

I would LOVE some modes similair to the ones in TF2 and Unreal2k4 for Titanfall.

At least they aren't charging for them I guess.

So they just reduce the number of players from an existing mode and call it a new mode?  Alright then, Respawn.

In every single way this game feels more like Respawn testing the waters for Titanfall 2.  I regret a little buying the deluxe edition on release, but am fully expecting the sequel to be more fully featured and of much higher quality and polish.

@jdc6305 what do you mean it's not finished? don't play myself but have not seen anything negative about it being unfinished either in the reviews or in the news....you just rant for no reason do you? trololo

@dannyg1533  Maps are kind of a pain to make. I know that from the consumer side it looks like "just 3 maps", but each one takes a tremendous amount of effort. Not just creating it, but the painstaking process of guaranteeing the map is balanced and that no one location holds more strategic value than another.

I can definitely understand why people perceive this as being just some half-assed tossed out DLC that isn't worth $10, but I'd at least like to ask that you at least keep in mind how much work is involved in these maps.

@ivireos  This post makes it painfully obvious that you understand nothing about PC performance optimization. Any claim otherwise would simply not be able to refute the sheer stupidity in the above post.

You sound like that coworker in the office who always claims to know more about computers than IT because they installed a piece of software on their own once.

Please, do yourself a favor and save what little dignity you have left by simply not talking anymore. :)

PS- Educate yourself by looking up the concept of triple monitor gaming, and the effect it would have on a $350 video card like the GTX 770 which, while capable of supporting output to 3 monitors, would turn into a slideshow in the process if you tried to game on it.

R4gn4r0k
R4gn4r0k

@Wogrim  Use iron sights, they are way easier to aim when cloaked compared to other sights.

valgua1977

@R4gn4r0k  I hope that there will be more content than just three maps (new weapons?). I agree that only three maps without other changes would feel quite underwhelming, unless the maps are truly extraordinary. I hope Respawn understands the great potential of allowing further titan customization. I would gladly pay 10 dollars for a DLC that allowed me to chose my titan's colors, it's insignia and similar stuff. You should develop some kind of emotional attachment to your titan.

@HowlPendragon It was complete. WTF don't you understand what an expansion is ? Most games are never complete at release and get updated as they go. This is nothing new.

I love the game. It reminds of the old school shooter days. My friends and I can't get enough of it.

@jk12324  I agree, I think that although this game is awesome right now and I love every moment of it. I do feel that this was just a ripple in the water for Respawn's first standalone project. Now that the mechanics and boundaries have been set, I think the sequels to Titanfall will improved in every aspect.

AirForce190B

The DLCs could have been placed on hold until they added more stuff. Its too early for one anyways and I guess what some of us are saying is that we want more for our $10.

ivireos

@Tlesta  triple monitor gaming.... woo hoo.   Which is another prime example of more money than brains.  IE.  Maybe TF isn't ready to be played on Triple Monitor setups yet. Wait a few more years when a single GPU card can handle it.   And regardless of that.   So. you try to triple monitor it up.   it drops down to what...40 FPS.   So by adding in another 350$ card you can boost it back up to 60 FPS.   I say NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

Or in other words, this single $350 GTX 770, can run ALOT of earlier games in a Triple Monitor setup with absolutely no problems.   In a few years, a new generation of video cards is going to come out, and these 2016-2017 cards will probably handle TF in triple with no problems.

IE.  You have no patience either to wait for brains and money to catch up to each other.

@gameroutlawzz @quakke

Thats a good recommendation, I have yet to play it, but I need to give it a go, I do have the short campaign they released for it recently.

R4gn4r0k
R4gn4r0k

@valgua1977 @R4gn4r0k  True, the maps that are already in the game are pretty great. But even if the 3 new ones were as great, it wouldn't justify the price tag imo.

Some people are asking for new weapons, that would be nice. Some new anti-titan weapons or Titan weapons would be most appreciated as the Pilot weapons already have all the weapon classes covered (SMG, assault rifle, semi auto, sniper, shotgun, ...)

Weapon or Titan customization could be added as well. That would be way easier to do than say add new weapons because those need to be balanced right.

Adding Emblems, pattern and color customization without going over the top should be a nice bit of extra content.

It just seems to be missing a lot, but I guess I'm just comparing it to CoD too much.

@TroyTrojanGamer

"Within a few years"

Those words sit on the tongues of IT Professionals and PC Gamers year round, every year, and will for all of time. There will ALWAYS be something on the horizon, always some reason to not upgrade right now. You're an IT professional; you should know this. It is very rare that there is a viable reason that the current moment is not a good time to upgrade, and a future gaming standard that is "a few years" away is NOT one of them

@ivireos

"Or in other words, this single $350 GTX 770, can run ALOT of earlier games in a Triple Monitor setup with absolutely no problems."

If you consider <20 fps on the second to highest settings to be "with absolutely no problems", then sure, go for it. But most of us would like to at least achieve 30fps or higher.

Jealousy is unbecoming of you, and your post smacks of it deliciously. All I see is "Someone has something that I don't! They are STOOOOOOOOPID! STUPID STUPID STUPID!". It's embarrassing. Just stop.

TroyTrojanGamer
TroyTrojanGamer

@ivireos TIesta I'm also in IT I have a CCIE.....I have to agree with ivireos.  It's pretty stupid to invest a lot of money in a gaming rig right now.  Within a few years were going to be making the switch to 2160p gaming.

R4gn4r0k
R4gn4r0k

@quakke @R4gn4r0k @Wogrim  Than your aim is less accurate when cloaked. I think the game was designed to be that way and I personally like it that way.

valgua1977
valgua1977

@rasterror  I agree. I don't understand all the complaints about the missing single player. The best games I ever played did not have a campaign at all. However, I would have preferred for Respawn to invest their resources in more maps or better customization rather than trying to put together the "campaign".

Way too much. When have you known a Battlefield game being great because of its story?
