Titanfall Preorder Bonuses

All preorders are not created equal.

by

The First to Fall patch is a Walmart exclusive.

If you're anything like me, you make a point of checking multiple retailers anytime you're ready to preorder a game, looking for the best deal and/or preorder bonus. There's one retailer that I typically default to if prices and such are the same across the board, but preorder bonuses can vary pretty wildly, and on occasion, I've been convinced to create a profile with and order from a retailer other than my go-to in order to get better in-game or physical items as a bonus. Searching all of those retailers' sites can be pretty time-consuming, though, so I figured I'd save you the trouble where my most recently preordered game is concerned: Titanfall.

I'm not here to share which of these preorder deals I ended up opting for, but I can tell you that I always want my game on day one when I preorder, and I don't like to pay for shipping.

What are your most important considerations when preordering games? Are there any retailers I missed that you'd like to see included in the future? Let us know in the comments below.

I like Titanfall for the running on walls and double jumping, I actually find the giant robots less enjoyable.

The game is running higher than 720 in its beta for. It's currently running at 792 with eventually being higher in the final build.

Do not pre-order this game, do not pre-order any game, ever.

"Backing" a game that wont happen without help, sure, that has purpose, but don't give your money in advance to a game that is being made regardless.

If no one pre-orders then developers will be forced to make good games that sell themselves, rather than turning a profit on sheep through sheer marketing power and hype.

Wait for reviews, wait for a gamer consensus, THEN buy.

Guys... has anyone seen this anime called Full Metal Panic!? I think this anime has more relevance to TitianFall than the mention in the video. The mechs are about the same size. The anime features things such as pilot and hes AI can work together. Diff fraction are fighting over urban environment, some mech has the ability to stop bullets and rockets... its too bad its stuck on thrid season..

Remember BF4 people, buy it when it proven to work, not before!

Build a new PC so I can play this... or buy a PS4? gee tough decision there.  I'm going to be home a lot this year it looks like between this, Elder Scrolls Online, and a few other games I want.    I watched the game play demo on youtube this looks pretty fun.

Is the walmart patch digital or physical?

you can borrow a game and there's is a disc you moron. Why do you think a disk tray is in the xbox one.

You get a $10 microsoft card when preordered directly from microsoft.

6vs6 still sounds kinda underwhelming.

It looks like a fun game, but not worth the pre-order effort on my part. I'll wait for the guinea pig XBoners test it out first...

This is how you know all the Sony Ponies are jealous. You get on here and practically every other comment is about how this game is going to fail because it's not on the playstation and it's made by EA. Use whatever excuse you want, but most, if not all developers out there are raving about this game because it DESERVES the attention it's getting. Most people who have played it that I personally know can't wait for it to come out.

This game didn't get a record breaking 60 E3 Awards just by being a failure. The other Sony fanboys who have come to terms with their helplessness have resorted to: "Titanfall 2 will come to all consoles.". Yeah...just wait another 3 years to play it on your preferred console. Or buy a mid-end PC which can run Windows and get this. Or shut up and deal with it.

I hope it works and i hope I able to play the whole game and not half a game like Battlefield when we couldn't play the single player game. I think they fix it but I want to have a game that work right the first time you buy it.

Wonder if a Single player will be a DLC? May be a new format similar Killer Instinct F2P format.

Not sure if the game will be good, so I think I'll order off origin for the great game guarantee option.

Looking forward to it but it needs a single player option added to it, like i don't want to be left with a game that becomes unplayable in the future when they discontinue the multiplayer.

Pre-order bonuses are to encourage people to buy the game straight away instead of waiting for a price drop

I pre-ordered on Origin months ago, because I knew this would be like COD4 was when I bought that!  Im just hoping that I will have the same amounts of fun and awesomeness I had in that game.  Battlefield 4 has been a let down, the most recent patch just made everything worse!  If you play BF4, everyone now loses sound in TDM matches and the hit detection gets worse with each patch!  Here's hoping that Titanfall will live up to its hype!  I just knocked on wood!

@ShimmeringSword  FYI: Most preorders don't require a single dime from you like Amazon's.

The only retailer that charges you before the game is out is Steam, as far as I know.

But then again, it may depend on how soon the game is coming out when it comes to pre-ordering from Steam; I only preordered a game once on Steam, which was Bioshock Infinite.

That game had a unique preorder campaign that gave you free copies of XCOM and the original Bioshock, depending on how many people on Steam preordered the game.

Nevertheless, preorders are actually pretty fair for consumers. I've been able to cancel preorders at the last minute with no issues from Amazon, Gamestop, and a variety of other retailers that sell games this way.

Also, Amazon keeps to their word: If the game isn't delivered on the day the game is released, they'll refund your money and you keep the game.

It happened to me when Mass Effect 3 came out.  Because of all these things, preorders have little risk, but lot more for you to gain--and that's excluding preorder bonuses.

@collingtonuk  But BF4 is made by a different company and Titanfall was running perfectly even in Beta.
If Im not mistaken , BF4 already had many issues since beta.

Also, whats wrong with pre-ordering?
Its not like youre not getting the game later on,and price wont drop that fast too.

@19James89  Yes it does.It has been.Just certain people experience bugs. But now its been perfectly fine for me.

@BurningUp99 technicly you probably wont need a new pc seeing as the game is made on the source engine.. Not an engine that is known to require alot from your computer..

@saadomar  i got ps4 and dont think it will fail i just dont think it will be all that gr8 after finden out 6v6 with up to 36 ai. you will have more ai in the game then human players. the game is being touted to revolutionize the genre but 6v6 is not revolutionizing anything

@saadomar  It's ok XBoner....enjoy your 720p FPS....not every superior PS4 owner is jealous.

Respawn Ent. didn't include a single player campaign in Titanfall. They said this was so that could focus on making the multiplayer content the absolute best that it could be. All signs point to it working out just fine -so far anyway.

realguitarhero5
realguitarhero5

@dmastor  I don't think it's in need of a single player.  Respawn realized that it isn't worth massive resources to make a 4 hours campaign that 5% of players finish.

I have 90 hours on Battlefield 3 and I never finished the campaign.  If DICE had taken all the time and money they spent on making Battlefield 4's campaign and simply finished BF4's multiplayer for launch, no one would have complained.

colt_a
colt_a

It doesn't have to become discontinued.  Community run servers can make games last long after official support goes away.

See CS 1.6, Quake 3, etc.

realguitarhero5
realguitarhero5

Back before Respawn was Respawn and they were making Call of Duty games, they had problems with balance, but they never put out a glitchy or buggy game.

And since Titanfall is published by EA but EA has no direct control over Respawn like EA does over DICE, hopefully it will mean Titanfall releases in a finished state.

realguitarhero5
realguitarhero5

@g0ldenpr0pet @saadomar  The PS4 and Xbox One are so woefully underpowered compared to a basic gaming PC that there's no reason to buy a console based off anything except features and game library.

RevLux
RevLux

@BurningUp99@kevin2sick Actually owning each of the consoles as well as a p.c. is ideal for gaming otherwise you miss out on some awesome exclusives. That said, if a game is multi-plat. I will generally get the p.c. version when available.
