The Titanfall preload is live on Origin for PC customers who have preordered the game on the platform.
Users on Reddit are reporting that the preload weighs in at around a 20GB download, although when unpacked and installed the full version of Titanfall on PC could come in at almost 50GB.
While developer Respawn Entertainment has said it won't ban legitimate players who manage to receive the game early, Titanfall requires EA's Origin platform so you probably won't be playing the game until they say so.
Titanfall will launch for PC and Xbox One on March 11. An Xbox 360 version will follow on March 25.

Playing Titanfall early will allow players to gather experience and get their rank up, while also using the new Generations system that Respawn Entertainment is implementing.
At the same time, gamers are able to become familiar with the maps and the game modes and can learn which weapons they perform best with, which will offer them a clear advantage soon after the game is officially out.
have a feeling the launch will be fine but the next 2 days wont
EA, online only, launch day...a deadly cocktail.
Prepare for a rough ride, folks.....
read for download, but my pre-order key will be available on 14/03/2014.
Get ready.
If you have euro currency. its 35.99 for PC version via https://www.g2a.com/r/titanfallpc .way cheaper than buying via Origin store.
This guy on reddit made a custom Eject keycap for PC Titanfallers and now he's running a groupbuy for it! Help him reach the goal so we all get it for less!!! You can see the mod at www.trycelery.com/shop/egress-titanfall-keycap
If you bought this junk you're responsible for the downfall of gaming
Mm, no. It's not available for pre-load. Must be a US-only thing. Still says that pre-load goes live on March 11 for me. But then the game itself doesn't launch until March 13 in Australia for some reason...
How about No for EA?
I'd love to play this game, but there are two deal breakers for me - Origin is mandatory, and no single-player. I can't even say that 'I'll pick this up during a sale', because the cost of this game is unlikely to come down for several years.
ok quick ?, will there be a monthly fee to play this on the pc?
last game i bought on origin was BF4, and i regret it! i learnt my mistake. no more!
Why no Steam support? No Steam no sale.
... Whoever buys this game, I feel sorry for.
not that I will be getting this but if I did, it would take me two days to download.
50gb *does* seem a bit much, but the game does release with 15 maps(according to wiki and probably other sources) and a multiplayer campaign for both IMC and Militia.
Not worth the space honestly. Actually it's origin.
The lighter side of comparing PC/50 vs XB1/20gig for titanfall
- Is it the P's............. SevenHundredNinteytwo P's vs OneThouandEighty P's LOL.
Cool that PC get to DL early since it's such a wide gap. Be nice to know the 30gig difference in a Featured Fact article.. N'way MSstore already started shipping XB1 TF pre-orders as per my email announcement I received earlier today.
I don't understand why anyone would purchase this inferior version of Titanfall. Many people got ran out of the game by hackers.
prepare yourself for incoming DLC and patches.......
50Gb+
50 GB of multiplaying only. This game doesn't even have a storyline. My goodness, how much calculations of code does this game has.
Ok if this is 50 GB (My gosh thats alot) It Better have alot of stuff on it Also IT BETTER NOT HAVE ANY DISCLOCKED DLC but if theres no disc locked dlc then that means we'll have a freakin big game
50 GB....50GB............................55555555555555555555555555555555555555555555550000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 GB HOLY CRUD
50gigs for a multiplayer only game made with source engine is rather excessive. It's bigger than my World of Warcraft folder for Christ's sake.
I'm sure they can compress their files to make it smaller, but eh.
50gb that is insane!
@respectalldaybi So? Even if everybody started at the same time, there will be those that play better, faster and more hours than you, while unlocking new things. its a minor problem to be honest.
@pyosisified
Gamingfall.
I like it. :)
@pyosisified I wouldn't call it junk, I'd call it the flavor of the month. You can tell EA is spending tons of money on ads and hype on this "Game Breaking" game. I don't hate the game it's just not for me. It's twitch gaming, and I like depth.
I don't like sports games, because I can actually go outside and do that, but some people like it.
If there is going to be a downfall in gaming it will be the fault of the consumer. Buying garbage and not doing research. Look at all the pre purchasing, the DLC's, and even Alpha and Beta accesses that the consumer pay for. How many of those games were turds, never completed, or over priced, yet the lemmings line up at the door. Have I done all those things, yes, but I make sure I know what I'm getting into.
@pyosisified Care to explain why : ) ?
@darthsutius Wow you Aussies got the worst of it, usually it's us Asian that got the short end of the stick, my sympathy.
The preload is already up for me though and the game will be available to play on the 10th.
@commander1122 NO more EA crap, if the game behaves well after a while then ill consider buying it. Battlefield games screwed it up. buy the game and then soon after you get really disappointed and pissed off.
@ZeEzO No...
@Redsyrup
EA doesn't want to pay Valve, buying from Origin gives EA 100% of the money, it's been this way since ME3 and BF3. Be thankful Ubisoft isn't this stupid.
@justinka777 Then you need to update your broadband sir :D
@justinka777 I downloaded it in a reasonable amount of time at 48 Mb/s. My only complaint was that I had to use Netbalance to restrict bandwidth usage by Origin (because they are lazy noobs) so as not to saturate my connection. 50 gb is quite a chunk of my ssd but I put some time into the beta and I believe the game is clearly worth it. On a side note I feel bad for any of you console gamers playing this on 360 or xbone. Get a Pc is my advice to you.
@DARKSPACE
Can someone translate this to english?
@filemaster4 its probably just 50 GB of shiny textures.
@radcrab123
how i read this:
"fiddy! G B... fiddy gig.... fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiddddddddddddddddddddddddddddeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee gig!
holy crud
@Darkhol0w I'll wait for the game to pass judgement. They've been keeping a lot of stuff under wraps. The multiplayer only game after all has a story campaign. A bunch of stuff like turrents and other things we didn't expect. So we may end up having a much broader game that many of us expected.
@Darkhol0w I guess there's a lot more content then we originally thought.
@Lach0121 As hard drives and SSD's get bigger so do the programs.
@MAD_AI @RedsyrupUbisoft doesn't make you purchase directly from them, but they still make you download their own Origin-like platform. Which is really stupid, because you still launch the game from Steam, yet it has to be running for the game to run. I very much dislike Origin, but Ubisoft's equivalent is just stupid.
@gamesareneato Dude, I'm lucky if I get an average of 1 Mb/s. Where are you getting 48?
@RabidBurp @DARKSPACE I'll try:
The lighter side of comparing PC's 50gb install vs. Xbox one's 20gb install for Titanfall is the resolution; 792p vs. 1080p "LOL".
Cool that PC get to download early since it's such a wide gap. It would be nice to know what the 30gb difference is in a Gamespot fact article. Anyways, Microsoft Store already started shipping Xbox One Titanfall pre-orders as per my email confirmation that I have received earlier today.
Hope that helps.
Anyways, to answer his question, the PC version has a larger download because of high resolution textures and better sound, that's no joke. The audio files on PC are really intense, so those two features make up for such a large download.
@JustinRiden @radcrab123lol
@lonewolf1044 @Lach0121
oh I am aware of this, however most MMO games don't even reach 50gig, this game has no single player, and is multiplayer only.
50gb is huge for that, no matter how you try to spin it. It really doesn't matter if you have 4TB of storage space or not, that is completely irrelevant to the fact that 50gb for a non-mmo multiplayer only game is a lot.
I just hope that it is that way for some GOOD reason!
@lonewolf1044 @Lach0121
well i've got a 2tb hard drive, 500 gb hard drive, 60 gb ssd, and a 1tb external hard drive so i think i'll be fine.
OT: this game doesn't really justify the large space requirement. Most of my pc games take up less than 30 gbs each. i believe the witcher 2 is about 20gb for instance
@Lach0121 @lonewolf1044 The reason why MMO size are small may be we only are given the files that are necessary to get the game to run and the rest are sitting on the servers an example is someone that has a server and they own maybe like more than two computers they can put the main software like office on the server and the shell or files to run office off the server. The server has a full install whereas the other computers do not require a full install. Now being Titanfall is not an MMO I guess one can say if we must have a persistent online connection there should not be a need for a big install if the server is going to have some files. SimCity only installs the files that are needed to run and it is not a big file the end user gets because EA/Maxis maintains most of the files. But no telling what EA is cooking, guess we will see on day of launch :)
@JustinRiden @lonewolf1044@Lach0121 Yes, 50 Gb is a huge requirement but it depends on what they did with the program to need such space. I myself have over 4TB of internal space so 50 Gb to me is a drop in the bucket of course I also hhave close to 4 TB as far as external space goes.Those that are still using 120 Gb drives(which are small by today standards) may not see it as a drop in the bucket. There is no justification needed if the requirement is high being you are looking from the outside and do not work for EA or MS.
