My Opinions About Titanfall...

Titanfall is still great but it should be spiced up a little bit, something that would make gamers keep coming back and playing it continuously. Yes, the maps are amazing, as are the burn-cards, and realistic titan-fighting feel, but honestly, that isn't enough to hold up a game for a long period of time, ESPECIALLY since the game itself gets pretty... well... repetitive.

It's fun playing their "domination" or "TDM" game-modes for a couple of hours, but then after that it just gets really boring... Call of Duty, for example (sorry for having to bring up this typical FPS- franchise) gets really repetitive too, but at least has a lot more customization, weapons, perks, game-modes, and achievements to be completed online. Maybe it's due to the fact that half a decade ago, this FPS got a ton of hype (which is why it's so successful), but aside from that in a comparison with Titanfall, it's got its fans to completely sink into the franchise. There's just so much more to do in Call of Duty or other popular FPS games. Yes there's bullshit in every game such as COD, but COD has many different kill-streaks which really excite a new-coming player that may set out to get them all.

I remember my first time playing MW2 a few years ago, when I got my first ac-130 followed by my first nuke. Yeah, I admit it, I was shouting out of joy like a little, crazy, hyper 14 year old kid that I was, but THAT's the reason why I loved the game. That's what got me to keep coming back and playing more and more. The kill-streaks; attack dogs, swarm, M.O.A.B. etc, the foundation of multiple clans, various class setups that you could use, different camos that you could unlock, all of that is what constantly kept having me come back to play more.

I don't mean to hate on Titanfall at all means, I have the game myself and play it from time to time too. I really enjoy it but its 6 vs. 6 players, 3 or 4 limited gamemodes, and disappointing single-player (which doesn't even develop a sense of connection to the plot of the video-game), is really what somewhat let us down. I could go into extended details talking about other things such as the Zombies/Extinction mode in Call of Duty, the vehicles/destructible environments in Battlefield, or the many adventures that can be made in Farcry, and why they're much more fun to play over a long period of time than Titanfall, but you already get my point.

Though Titanfall under-achieves certain categories of what most gamers would picture an epic FPS as, it got outstanding ratings, and there's a high chance of a 2nd one coming out in the near future. I just hope that the developers learn from some of their mistakes. I want this game to succeed in the long run, just like everyone else does, but it can't do so if it's limitations prevent that. Also, I really hope that they'd work on the singleplayer more, at least by adding a stronger story-line with a longer duration. The $37-50 that the game is worth now could have easily stayed at $60 if there were more features added into the game.

I wish they added more titans, gamemodes, customization, and achievements followed by rewards. I know  the idea of kill-streaks is kind of repetitive due to previous FPS games including it, but could you imagine if your titan got 15+ kills and you were able to summon 5 mini-titans to help you out on the battlefield? Or how about at 30+ kills your titan's speed, damage, health increased, you gained 2x the experience points, and you got to unlock a new perk for your titan? It doesn't necessarily have to be like that, but something new that would change the aspect and feel of the game, completely.

Like mentioned before, I still have high hopes for Titanfall and it's sad to see a decline in the number of online players for the game, but that should help show  the developers that the community wants more additions added into the franchise. I don't really like how all of a sudden, everyone is hating on the game now, but at least it's a wake up call for the developers. I guess if there were no haters for Titanfall, then the game would furthermore never change/improve. The last thing we want is for it to turn into what Call of Duty has turned into: little change, lazy ideas, repetitive " copy & paste" actions, and over-priced/annoyingly useless marketed micro-transactions. So that's somewhat of my personal opinions on the game, what it's currently like and what I hope it could eventually turn into. Feel free to reply and add anything that I missed or some of your opinions/experiences about the game.

Oh yeah and one more thing..... MAKE TITANFALL FOR THE PS4!

I agree quite much. That said I look games bit more on long term. I usually play MMO's and PVP them. Since no interesting MMO was coming that would appeal to me I came to look for FPS. In MMO's they have exactly same problems. They may have tons of content but usually players go it through like 6 months and then they get awfully bored. SWTOR I've played lately was made semi free-to-play to keep user base living. Most of games are free in that genre nowdays and money comes from micro purchaces.

Way I see the content problem will exists in any game. All PVP/fps related stuff especially because its devishly hard to test player vs player balances and changes. Neither Blizzard(WoW) or Bioware(SWTOR) never really delievered fast new playgrounds all a time. They always tweaked classes and added them but the surroundings and general setup are about same day game was launched.

So what  mostly look for good game mechanics, entertainment,  reliability and good community. And easy access because I dont want to do raiding or other complex stuff because it TIME CONSUMING.

Titanfalls good side is stability and for me its so far been most bug free release ever. Most of real time games have synchronization problems and controls vary with diffrent degreess of responsivenes. With Titanfall(about 20h playing) I've not even have to though such issues. It works amazingly well. Not even once I've though why I'm late or why my input is not registered. On my setup it feels like I was playing single player game. And this on PC with windows 8.1 .

Personally I hope they get some new ideas to game to keep population alive. Its well done and delivers more than most games actually do when you think all bugs they usually have. But overall I'm not sure how radical stuff they need to do. These player vs player games always end repeatitive.  I'd but my money on developing the player community, adding some odd rewards and rewarding co-operation somehow. Make the game grow beyond game.

When player vs. player community works well its like being part of some ultra crazy football fan base. I've once had it really good and it always brings me back to play video games.

I have been on the fence about whether or not Titanfall lived up to the hype.  I only played the beta and didn't really care for it but that was expected since I haven't really liked most shooters for a long time now.

I've been paying attention to the Titanfall related pieces here since release and it does seem like most people are less positive about it now.  People were going insane over this game before, but now the number of comments seems way down for each piece, with a lot of negative comments and likes for them.

Of course someone might theorize that this is because everyone is now busy playing the game and only the haters remain, jealous PS4 owners, etc.  Could be true I guess :).  I will say that the frenzy of hype for this game was so high that maybe there's no way any game could have lived up to it.

Titanfall is a good pick-up below $30. The games lacks compared to other FPS to be worth

+$30 at this point. Honestly, it should have been $40 at launch....but the hype raised the price tag.

Pretty good deal if anyone was on the fence. I think I'm done with online twitch shooters after years of play.

its still $30 to expensive.
im sure during the many summer sales PC has in a few months it will be $7.

@Death_Masta187 Couldn't agree with you more. I fell victim to the games over hype and was let down during the network stress test closed and open beta. But for ten bucks or under, hell why not. I'd pick it up since I've worn out Crysis 3 MP.

$37 still isn't worth it to me. I'll just wait 'til it winds up in a $10 bargain bin alongside the X1.

Don't get me wrong, I love my xbox one, but I did not like this game. I rented it, and it just wasn't fun to me. It seemed to lack any feeling of teamwork, and the limited number of weapons just didn't do it for me. IMO, it's a $20 game.

@Daveof89  there's some meat on the bone but not much, I'd pay $40.

That's interesting because multiple people on my friends' list said it was missing something. Me on the otherhhand. I will never support a game that has no campaign unless it's free to play.

No price on these "lightning sales"? Lame. I would of liked to know ahead of time to make sure it is worth scheduling my time to check it out.

Major fail. I hate how because Titanfall is included in this, it overshadows everything else. Give the details of what you're reporting on!

Wow, the amount of blind hate and fanboyism here is saddening and makes us (the gaming community) look like immature children.

1 - yes, the ps4 is outselling the one (roughly 7 to 4.5 mil to customer). But the one is outpacing it's previous console by 60% in the same time. It's doing well - just not legendary like Sony is. It has a constant flow of games and many on the horizon - it's "cool" to hate on it but illogical to do so

2 - Titanfall is a very fun game and easily the most fun I have had in mp. Ever. However, the issues with overall content size is understandable. At this price, it's worth it if you want to play a quality FPS competitively

3 - why does anyone mentally get off on ripping into a product or those who like it? It's one thing to offer constructive criticism or share an opinion but a lot of the comments here "OMGZ WORST GAME EVA" and "PS4 shiz on dis" make you and our community look like morons. Grow up.

PS it was the top selling game in March and is trending to do do again. In addition I've seen many games go on sale a month later, especially via amazon and/or in the PC space

grenadehh
grenadehh

Insert bitching here. Why are you all so dumb? Do you not buy things? Honestly? No one on GS appears to understand what sales are. Sales are not permanent price reductions. They have literally no correlation whatsoever with demand nor sales of the game thus far. They have no relation to MS or the developer. Amazon decided to sell it at a discount. MS does not own nor control Amazon.

I don't see the same dumbass comments when Steam puts everything on sale for a dollar. Why? Why don't you say stupid shit then?

@tomservo51 I can't come up with anything to combat that retarded comment...It's probably pointless anyways along with the tards that agreed with you. Titanfall is half a game it should have sold for $30 at release.

Xristophoros
Xristophoros

so what they say is true... titanfall is selling worse than i thought. how often do you see AAA games drop to this price merely weeks after release? ps4 outsold the x1 last month which is further indication of how poorly titanfall is performing. the game itself looks pretty good and is by no means bad. however, i hear it gets old quickly and is limited in its modes. perhaps the sequel will improve the foundation and make it the game it should have been from the start.

grenadehh
grenadehh

@Xristophoros  It's a sale. How fucking dumb are you people?

sale

noun \ˈsāl\

: the act of selling something : the exchange of goods, services, or property for money

sales : the total amount of money that a business receives from selling goods or services

: an event or occasion during which a business sells goods or services at prices that are lower than usual

Xristophoros
Xristophoros

@grenadehh  you ever heard of economics? do companies usually lower the price of a product (sale or not) that is selling well so early in its life? did you see the price of tlou or gtav drop so soon after launch? o yea, and titanfall is being given away for FREE with many x1 bundles and it is STILL struggling. go educate yourself :D

Xristophoros
Xristophoros

@Bread_or_Decide true... tlou is still selling for $60 here in canada and it has been almost a year since release. some publishers have no reason to lower their prices because their game sales are so strong. cod black ops 2 is another example of this as it sells for $50 at most retailers. it is still in high demand. grenadehh failed to understand this simple logic :D

Vodoo
Vodoo

I love how people that never played the game run there mouths about how bad it is. For an online multiplayer shooter, you'd be hard pressed to find anything better. The gameplay is fast & fluid and controls perfectly. I'm speaking about the XB1 version btw, don't know if pc is similar.

Personally, I don't own it, but played it extensively. I actually ordered it from this sale but then cancelled the order. I need single player mode to get real value out of my games, but this is by no means a bad game.

grenadehh

@nazgoroth @Vodoo  900 people have said the exact same thing but he suddenly appeals to you? Everything he said is true but the game does not come without your standard FPS lag bullshit, such as hitting someone more than enough times to kill them or literally stepping on them and they survive. It's a damn solid game on XB1 though - I also never played on PC.
