Titanfall for Xbox 360 appears on eBay -- Buyer beware, servers won't be turned on until April 8

Someone is currently selling the Xbox 360 version of EA's new shooter on eBay; servers won't be switched on until April 8.

An eBay listing for the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall appeared today on eBay. The current high bid after six offers is $56. The game will sell for $60 at launch come April 8. It's unclear how the seller obtained the copy of Titanfall, and we've reached out to this person for comment.

Even if you win the auction or somehow obtain a copy of Titanfall ahead of its launch on April 8, you won't be able to play the game. The game's official Twitter channel says that servers for the Xbox 360 version won't be turned on until April 8. Titanfall is an online-only game that requires you be connected to their servers to play.

The Xbox 360 version of Titanfall was developed by Bluepoint Games, not Respawn Entertainment, which handled the Xbox One and PC versions. The Xbox 360 version was originally expected to launch back in early March, but publisher Electronic Arts delayed the game twice to its new April 8 release date.

Sorry EA, but nobody cares about your piece of shit FPS. It's a shallow FPS with unrealistic mech physics.

Oh wow, if it stays at 56 dollars, that lucky person will save a whole FOUR dollars compared to buying it in a store. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111

I'm worried no one ever seen the XBOX 360 version of Titanfall. While I understand it should be something little different, I hope it's not a 8-bit platformer at least.

Should I just wait until July when im likely getting an Xbox One to buy this game or should I get the Xbox 360 version?

This and GTA5 have made it very difficult to get rid of the 360.   They need to find a new reason to upgrade to an XBone.

"The Xbox 360 version of Titanfall was developed by Bluepoint Games, not Respawn Entertainment" But yet right on that cover in big bold letters RESPAWN Enterainment name is stamped. So they want some type of recognition I guess?

Haha Just imagine if it was pushed back to make it less shitty then intended. LOL

I'd like to see how the game looks as well. Guess we'll find out on the 8th.

I for one want to see a comparison between the XB1 and XB360 versions. A Microsoft exclusive with no story hailed as the flagship should be considerably better on XB1.

Reasons why MSFT pushed for EA to delay the X360 of Titanfall for one month:

- Total focus on the XBOne version of Titanfall (MSFT knew they would cut the price of the console for the TF launch, IF sales were low)

- There is VERY little difference between the versions of Titanfall for the X360 and XBone, which does not warrant a $400 purchase of a new console

- Most retailers have a 30 return policy (in other words, if they had released TF 360 at the same time as the other versions AND people saw the similarity of both XBone and X360 versions, they would have returned their XBones to the retailers. A month-long delay guarantees that this won't happen)

If anyone believes that MSFT did not purposely delay TF 360, than they are being naive. I wonder what people who purchased a TF Bundle Console will think when they see how similar the X360 version is to the "next-gen" XBone version.

@D1N02982  get the 360 version game aint worth $500 plus not much diff in graphics

@D1N02982 cant really recommend either as I have it on pc but it's kind of weird how they always point out that the 360 version was ported by bluepoint games and all responsibility falls on them. just a red flag for me, if I was forced to choose, I'd get xbox one copy.

@D1N02982  personally I'd wait and get it on XB1, it will be the better version and have the longest life(more and more people will be switching generation).

@kyelo I'm with you. I bet the difference is slight as the Xbox One isn't very powerful.

drysprocket
drysprocket

@ncruozzi  I predict it will be super close to the X1 version....and that explains them hiding it even more. Think about it, if that is the case, people wouldn't need to buy a new X1. It makes sense. But we'll see soon enough.

Interesting how you played an Online only game when the servers aren't even up.

Obvious bullshit troll is obvious.

Stinger78

@Pyrosa  Selling a game 5 days from release sounds reasonable to me.  Most retailers probably get their copies a week or 2 ahead of 'street date'.  At least the auction is at a decent price for a new 360 game.

Stinger78
Stinger78

@g0ldenpr0pet  Likely the 360 version is something like 720p-native and (comparing to PC settings) low to medium details whereas the Xbox ONE is closer to 1080p (closer but not quite there) and high details.

jasonlc3221
jasonlc3221

@g0ldenpr0pet I love how you're so sure of yourself, yet I know how WAY OFF BASE you really are. The TF XB1 Bundle comes with a digital download of TF. Once you've redeemed the code, stores WILL NOT allow a return of the product. Since it's a "Bundle", you can't return 'most' of the items and expect them to give you your money back. Hence: I don't think MS was too worried about ppl returning their bundles.

You also have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to the similarities in the game. The Xbone versions look so fantastic, the 360 is not even close to being capable of producing same technical prowess of the Xbone version.

Sony fanboys literally cannot stay out of the MS/Xbox articles

xantufrog
xantufrog

@g0ldenpr0pet  I suspect the delay may have been encouraged, but do you seriously think people would return an X1 simply because a game they got for free with it looked similar to the version on a last-gen system? I'm no X1 fanboy, but you'd have to be retarded to think it's no more powerful than the 360 - even IF a game was identical on the two systems, that hardly means they all will be (and games that already exist for it prove that). Seriously, the X1 may be relatively weak, but it's substantially more powerful than a 360.

Sevenizz

Actually, I used to ship for Sony, Atari, Square, Namco, and a few other publishers and about 9 out of 10 releases aren't in stores prior to launch but they ship to store's distribution centers the morning of release and then they locally distribute it the same day. This is why smaller communities have to wait a day or two after the street date for some games to show up in their stores. Anyone in a small town can attest to that.

@jasonlc3221 @g0ldenpr0pet I've yet to see a retailer issue a refund on an opened game or game hardware.... unless you cry like a baby and make a scene, but by then you're not a customer, you're a punk.

@Jasonlc3221

Actually you are wrong. I was able to return the xbox one titanfall bundle back to best buy yesterday. The sweet part was since the game is account bound, if I were to buy another xbox One in the future, I can redownload it.

I have tried the XB1 and while Titanfall was a blast and fun game to play, I was still playing 360 more because my friends still all played 360. Returning the console now made the most logical sense to me. Maybe in the future when next gen consoles hit that $300 sweet spot will I pick one up again.

@TwinStripeUK @g0ldenpr0pet  I usually don't buy into conspiracy theories, but this one is just good business sense if he's right and it is so similar. And you can't put that sort of tactic past MS. I'm betting on him being right.

@Sevenizz I am genuinely interested to see the difference for my original reasons above.

Sevenizz

How about you enjoy playing the game on whichever system of preference and drop the stupid politics? If the 360 gets a great game, consider yourself fortunate. But to trash the One's version without even playing it is just stupid. This isn't 2 generations ago when the original Xbox was twice as powerful as the PS2 - and look how the PS2 did.

@FallenOneX  it runs on a 10 year old source engine and development started on 360 and ps3 then moved to xbone. The difference won't be very much at all in terms of visuals. The source engine isn't very demanding at all.

FallenOneX
FallenOneX

@shinjuki Well, either dumb, or want to see what two delays eventually looks and plays like. The way people have been talking about the XB1 version (PC doesn't count, it should look the best), I'm expecting a game so horrible in comparison that 360 owners are embarrassed they even bought it, and MS makes a deal with Mephisto that makes sure no one remembers...

BTW, I'm one of those people waiting to play it next week.

crazyeightz1
crazyeightz1

Well this preply is 10 days late and a dolla short but you will see it in your email. And i didnt notice your reply until i checked my email today. But unless you actually tried to do something yourself dont assume what people are saying are lies. There is no policy at best buy that denies people of returning opened items. There is no restocking fee. The only issue is returning it within 15 days of receipt. And there was no whining or complaining needed. I simply went up to the associate working returns and said i hardly used the system as a reason for returning. The process was simple and the associate never gave me a hard time at all.

jimbo6923
jimbo6923

@crazyeightz1 I'm calling B.S. here - unless you're one of "those" consumers with absolutely no dignity and whines until some poor schmuck behind the register caves just to get you out of the store.... considering that the scenario you've presented here violates Best Buy's return policy...

TwinStripeUK
TwinStripeUK

@drysprocket @TwinStripeUK@g0ldenpr0pet

How on earth is it good business sense to delay a product and potentially LOSE pre-order sales?

If the delay was indefinite, I might agree with you.

If you were able to find anyone (and I do mean ANYONE) who has actually bought an Xbox One Titanfall bundle and paid EIGHT TIMES their original planned purchase price based on having to wait an additional month, I might agree with you (the fact that the eBay item hasn't even reached list price yet shows how nobody thinks that way).

If the Titanfall bundle wasn't still available (which therefore qualifies it for the frankly RIDICULOUS '30 day' theory), I might agree with you.

If the release date had ANYTHING AT ALL to do with Microsoft (who aren't the publisher, EA are), then I might agree with you.

And if the posting wasn't made by somebody whose previous posts display a MAJOR axe to grind with Microsoft, EA and indeed Titanfall itself as a game, I might agree with you.

But the truth is that none of the conspiracy arguments hold water, and what is far more likely is that EA aren't willing to risk a PR disaster by releasing a heavily server based, online game which is broken so soon after the BF4 debacle, especially when that version represents their biggest single market for the game.

Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation, is usually the right one.
