The upcoming beta for Respawn Entertainment's hotly anticipated online shooter Titanfall is "not an open beta by any standards," studio cofounder Vince Zampella said on Twitter.

"If it were up to me I would let most of you in (always a few bad apples)," Zampella said. "Sadly, we have restrictions that we couldn't avoid."

It remains unclear how you'll be able to get access to the beta, though Respawn has previously confirmed that you won't need to preorder to get in. On the other hand, however, preordering the game also won't guarantee you access to the Titanfall beta.

Zampella said players should expect news about the Titanfall beta sometime today, though no announcements have been made so far. The Titanfall beta will be held on Xbox One and PC, while Xbox 360 players will be left out.

Titanfall launches for Xbox One and PC on March 11, while the Xbox 360 version--developed by outside studio Bluepoint Games--will be released on March 25. That version of the game needed extra time for polishing, EA said last week.
