Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Free Trial Coming This Week
Trying the shooter won't cost you a penny.
A free trial for Titanfall 2's multiplayer mode will be made available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Respawn and Electronic Arts announced today.
Subscribers to Xbox One's EA Access and PC's Origin Access programs will get a first crack at the trial, beginning Wednesday, November 30. On December 2, everyone on Xbox One, PC, and PS4 will be able to play. EA didn't say how long the trial will be available for, though the company described it as a "limited time free trial." It's unclear if there are any limits to the trial content.
Whatever the case, all multiplayer progress from the trial will carry forward to the full game.
For reasons that have yet to be explained, Titanfall 2 was excluded from the benefits of EA/Origin Access. Typically, subscribers get to play EA-published games five days before release.
Titanfall 2 launched at the end of October. Following a research firm's analysis that claimed the game's sales would be "substantially disappointing," EA CFO Blake Jorgensen suggested that sales were not as strong as the company wanted. In an investor call, Jorgensen said EA is taking a long-term approach to the Titanfall franchise, so the company is less concerned with first-day and first-week sales.
Additionally, Titanfall 2 was heavily discounted very soon after launch.
All Titanfall 2 DLC maps and modes will be available for free, beginning with a remastered version of the original Titanfall map Angel City, which comes out November 30 for some. A trailer for the remastered map was released today--watch it here.
If Titanfall 2 isn't your thing, the MOBA-style action game Battlerite will be free to play on Steam starting on Thursday, December 1.
