TimeShift demo available now

Sampling of Atari's temporally changing shooter now ready for download through GameSpot. Single-player demo includes one full level.

PC gamers with lots of time on their hands can now get even more. Today, GameSpot is hosting the single-player demo of TimeShift, a new shooter from Atari. The game was developed by Saber Interactive, the team behind 2003's Will Rock.

In TimeShift, gamers suit up as test pilot Colonel Michael Swift, who travels back in time. Unfortunately, things aren't as he remembered, and an evil overlord has taken hold of the world. Using a top secret, multimillion-dollar suit, Swift can alter time--slowing, freezing, and rewinding it at will. Of course, no evil overlord has ever been defeated with just a fancy suit, so Swift will come strapped with weapons and vehicles.

The single-player demo features one full level of the retail version of the game. In it, players will infiltrate a heavily guarded building to make contact with a rebel on the top floor.

TimeShift is rated M for Mature and will retail for $49.99 when it is released on March 21. An Xbox version will also be released that day, with an Xbox 360 version coming sometime after.

Demo ran very good on my high end computer. very very smooth and the graphics looks very good too. gameplay is fast and carefree and you can basically run through the demo in highest difficulty settings, which doesnt feel any harder than normal difficulty settings :S the game is way too easy cause you have ammos everywhere, and you always have more than enough and you can just run and gun and nade. only thing you need to worry about is to reload. and the demo is way too short! before i knew it it was over... wtf! maybe 10min if you run and gun. i prefer a game with recoil like stalker but i guess crysis doesnt have so much recoil if you compare with far cry so i guess this game is good enough! edit: oh yeah, no satisfying zoom option either, cause its so fast paced you really just loose on it if you zoom

I had some trouble with the download program but I got it up and running. Still i guess I can't play this demo with ATI RADEON X550. The game wont start. P.S. I have the required 2.0 shaders that it requires...

Seems very good. Nice graphics, great gameplay. Hope the full game is just as good, not as short.

This has got to be the shortest Demo in the history of gaming--not worth the trouble.

Why release it on a Monday? That makes no sense. People don't have the free time to actually try it out on a Monday like they would if it were released on a Friday.

looking forward to it.

360? Timeshift is coming out for 360, it would be good if a demo was released for 360 owners to try out. Anyway, whatever happened to the beta? I thought a beta was going to be released at the end of the month. Did they scrap the beta for this demo instead? EDIT: Nevermind about the beta question, the beta is for the MP game and this is only for the SP.

I'm half looking forward to this game. But I've got better things to buy in March. This demo should do well enough.
