As suspected, Apple will hold a press event the week after next where it is widely suspected to officially announce the long-rumored iPhone 6. GameSpot sister site CNET obtained an invitation to the event, which will be held nearby Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. on September 9.
In typical Apple form, the company didn't give official details about what will be shown at the event, insteading opting to tease, "Wish we could say more." Beyond the iPhone 6, there have been rumblings of a new Apple wearable device.
The Apple event itself will take place at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino. It comes one year after Apple announced the iPhone 5S and 5C. As CNET points out, Apple has introduced a new iPhone every year since the late Steve Jobs originally unveiled the smart-device back in 2007.
CNET will have full coverage of the Apple event next week, beginning with a live show. Gaming often plays a part in Apple's press conferences. In the past, Epic Games executives have appeared on stage to talk about advancements to mobile graphics technologies, and the company's Infinity Blade series often frequents the Apple stage.
