Electronic Arts must like Tim Curry. After casting the veteran British actor in both Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and the upcoming Brütal Legend, the megapublisher today announced that he has joined the cast of Dragon Age: Origins. Best known for playing the Lord of Darkness in the film Legend and "Sweet Transvestite" Dr. Frank N. Furter in the musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Curry will play the "calculating villain" Arl Rendon Howe in Dragon Age.

Joining Curry on Dragon Age: Origins' villain roster will be Kate Mulgrew--aka Captain Kathryn Janeway on TV's Star Trek: Voyager. She will lend her distinctive voice to the central character of Flemeth, described as "a powerful witch who maintains her immortality through the darkest of means." Other cast members announced include Tim Russ (also from Star Trek: Voyager), Claudia Black (Stargate SG-1), and Steve Valentine (Crossing Jordan).

Developed by role-playing game studio BioWare, Dragon Age: Origins ships on November 3 for the PC and Xbox 360, with the PlayStation 3 edition arriving later in the month. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's recent interview with executive producer Mark Darrah or the GamesCom Q&A with lead designer Mike Laidlaw, below.

OMG! Claudia Black single handedly signaled the end of SG1, and then brought the kiss of death to The Dresden Files. I can only hope that I'll get to kill her character off quickly. Her acting (?) style lends itself more to The Rocky Horror Show.

Cluadia Black!! Oh yes!!! I hope she's the voice of that Morrigan or whatever her name is

Definitely getting brutal legends for Jack Black and Tim Curry. Not only because of them, but I saw the trailer for this game and it seem like a really interesting game.

Tim Curry is perfect for evil roles, his evil laugh and the way he deepens his voice to make it sound even more evil.

I found this comment about Kate Mulgrew hillarious: "She will lend her distinctive voice" Distinctive comes from years of smoking. Guess this is one time that smoking paid off! She was good in Voyager at the beginning, towards the end of the series she was getting really annoying. Looking forward to Dragon Age!

Tim Curry rocks...nothing much else needs to be said. For the record, the grey area has been in RPG's for a LONG time...goddamned console kiddies tryin to say they know what they're talkin about...*grumbles*

Tim Curry is awesome, funny as hell. but I don't really want him in my games, and putting him in Brutal Legend over DIO...WTF.

You can never go wrong with an English accent. We Americans eat it up. That's the only reason I can explain my first wife. :)

2nd rate voice actors. I don't want name power. I want quality of work. Get those who get awarded for their work in audio books.

Can't deny, this looks like it's going to be an awesome release. The traditional "good" or "evil" response from NPC's in typical RPG's is predictable, and it's about time somebody introduced a grey area. If it has BGx's soul and the sheen of a next generation idea, then I see no reason why it shouldn't be on the "must have" lists of fans everywhere.

I have high hopes for this game:D

Don't see what the big hoopla is about some recognizable names doing voice acting. Yeah it's nice to know that there will at least be talent behind the voice acting, but they wont be voicing all the NPCs so there's still lots of chance that there will be bad acting, plus sometimes recognizable voices detract more than they add. For example, Patrick Stewart as the Emperor in TES: IV. I just hope the is good, and up to BioWare's Baldur Gate standards. If this turns out to be a Baldur's Gate meets KOTOR, I'm going to be hugely disappointed.

@tunaface: I remember "It." It creeped me out a little bit, too, when I was a kid, and I thought it was a good movie. Then one day, many years later, I watched "It" again and found it to be one of the silliest movies I've ever seen. Typical Stephen King movie (and book): mediocre story, horrible ending.

Hopefully the game will be better than the cast/voice acting (remember RLH - Run Like Hell, Kate also voiced...).

24 thumbs down? For saying too much hype!? Gamer's obviously like games being over-hyped and then being disappointed because the game, in reality, can never stand up to it! It cannot be helping gaming to get non-news every day on about 4 titles, while dozens of others get ignored. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket!

Tuvok AND Janeway are offering voices for the game?! I love you Bioware. Dragon Age has now been promoted to 'must buy' in my book.

I was going to just give this game a miss (since it looks terrible compared to Bioware's older RPGs)...but now I guess I'll have to buy it eventually. Well played, Bioware. :P

Now that I know this, I wouldn't even hesitate atleast renting this title. Tim Curry is a genious and just to hear his voice would be worth the rental.
