THQ has announced that it will publish Jedi Power Battles for the Game Boy Advance, the first game that will be released under its agreement with LucasArts. Currently in development by HotGen Studios, Jedi Power Battles allows up to two players to fend off waves of enemies from the Star Wars universe including battle droids, destroyer droids, and assassins. The game will also include authentic playable characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon, and Mace Windu. Weapons and locations will also be gleaned directly from the Episode I universe.

"As the number-one third-party Game Boy Color publisher, we are well positioned for success on Nintendo's new Game Boy Advance system with 15 titles launching this year," stated Germaine Gioia, vice president of licensing, THQ. "We are delighted to be working with LucasArts in bringing Star Wars Jedi Power Battles for the Game Boy Advance to millions of Star Wars enthusiasts and gamers alike."

Jedi Power Battles for the Game Boy Advance asks you to defend the Galactic Republic from the Trade Federation throughout 10 levels of gameplay. The Game Boy Advance version of Jedi Power Battles is scheduled for a worldwide release in fall 2001.

"We look forward to Star Wars Jedi Power Battles for the Game Boy Advance as an extension of the successful PlayStation and Dreamcast product launches," stated Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "THQ's proven track record in the handheld arena makes them the ideal Game Boy Advance publishing partner for LucasArts' high-profile properties."
