This Xbox One/PS4/PC shooter will use Oculus Rift AND Project Morpheus

The Farm 51's upcoming shooter Get Even supports virtual reality tech as a means to accelerate immersion.

Get Even, the upcoming Xbox One/PlayStation 4/PC shooter from Painkiller developer The Farm 51, will support Oculus Rift AND Sony's Project Morpheus. The studio announced the news today and released a special "Making Of" video to show off the game's implementation of virtual reality devices.

The Farm 51, a Polish independent studio, also today launched a Steam Greenlight campaign for Get Even. You can vote for the game here.

"At The Farm 51, we think of a video game world as an alternate reality, not that of an interactive movie. The exciting developments in virtual reality provide a huge benefit to a game aimed to be as immersive as ours," The Farm 51 CEO Wojtek Pazdur said.

"Get Even has the potential to support the VR concept like no other title," he added. This is why we want to be a part of this new revolution and is why Get Even can be a landmark title in its use.”

The "Making Of" video below shows The Farm 51 developers experimenting with Oculus Rift, but nowhere in the video do we see a Project Morpheus development kit.

The Farm 51 says Get Even's VR integration allows the game to "further break new ground" in blurring the lines between multiplayer and single-player. The developer asks, "What would happen if you could travel between different virtual realities, starting outside the game using a device like Oculus VR or Project Morpheus before going deeper and deeper inside the game using similar in-game gadgets?"

Story designer Przemyslaw Pomorski said the studio's overarching ambition for Get Even is to make a game that frightens you, and using VR will help accelerate this vision, he said.

"We want to relate to real fears and real situations and transform them in a fantasy form," he said. "Our key goal, however, is to make the game reflect what frightens us most in our daily life."

Neither Oculus nor Sony are ready to announce release dates for the Rift and Project Morpheus respectively, but Pazdur said he expects the VR revolution to begin sometime in 2015. "We are now working hard to implement VR devices into our gameplay," he said.

People Can Fly developed Painkiller. Not The Farm 51.

"Our key goal, however, is to make the game reflect what frightens us most in our daily life."

What frightens me most is the prospect of a world where all games are first person shooters.

Oculus will let all your Facebook 'friends' know you are playing games every 2 minutes, but you can earn free Farmville dollars.

After plugging in Morphus, it'll say "Welcome to the real world".....

We'll be compatible with Morpheus even though we know almost nothing about it!  Yeah, I think I'll wait for the game reviews on this one.

It seems that if VR takes off as many are predicting, Microsoft are going to be way behind Oculus and Sony.

as long as it has independent head movement like ArmA and when you look down you see your feet like ArmA, Crysis, and the new Killzone and NOT a floating head like 90% of fps games then VR will be AMAZING.

That sounds too good to be true...

That sounds like a FPS experience with some real brains behind...

Gave a thumbs up in Steam Green Light, can't wait to see this come to life.

The game sounds promising, but considering that The Farm 51's last title was Deadfall Adventures, and none of their other games have been especially notable, either (their best is a semi-sequel/remake of Painkiller), the devs are really going to have to up their game to make this worth the time and money going into it.

If you use Oculus you have to watch a 30 second ad before each mission.

That means I can forget about the Occulus Facebook simulator and can focus on the Morpheus game enchancer.

Morpheus may turn out to be another over hyped thing from Sony . I'm also not holding my breath for Get Even , their previous game was a disaster . Yes it is going to look amazing , since they are targeting PC as main platform but I won't be surprised if the game turned out to be garbage .

If it doesn't have Facebook integration, I'm not interested.

I don't care if it uses Project Morpheus. If it doesn't use Project Neo/Project Mr Anderson, I'm not interested.

How ironic ....

A game called Get Even for the Oculus Rift.

Eh yeah I will Get Even alright .... by not buying the Oculus Rift.  You don't sell to a non gaming company like Facebook and not tick me off.

So the xbone is left behind in the VR revolution.

Honestly, this kind of VR will only really be fully immersive in first person games.

Games like Mirror's Edge, Titanfall, Portal and BioShock Infinite will benefit greatly from these sorts of VR, because of them being frantic first person entertainment.

Hopefully making this game specifically for VR will help increase its staying power, and I hope it is both a good game and a success.

It's a fail! Gimmick! Horrible graphics! Games are a fail! Nothing is good! /wrists

Naw, just kidding. This is definitely on my radar for 2015 with Project Morpheus. Damn VR's gonna be fun. Though more than likely at first mostly it will be FPS type games. Makes sense though really, hyper realistic VRFPS.

it got fail written all over it and from people from painkiller who even cant make a videogame and plus its online only game so pass.

@gannon27 Agreed though if they put some thought and effort into it a VR combining the Kinect could be pretty cool

Zloth2
Zloth2

@gannon27 Could be, but it's hard to tell for sure.  We know they are doing something and we know they haven't properly announced yet but does that mean their engineering is behind or are they just fumbling around with focus groups, trying to find the "best" name for the thing?

@TERMINATOR-SSD My favorite part of the FPS experience is the camera always being placed such that your character couldn't be more than four feet tall.  Most of them I end up checking to see if I inadvertently pushed the crouch button.

LordCrash88
LordCrash88

@Cloud_imperium  Tbh either way Morpheus won't be able to display that game in the right way. These graphics with 1080p and constant 60 FPS on the PS4? LOL, no way...

Maybe the game will be cool, maybe it will be bad, who knows. The premise sounds good at least and at least with Oculus there could be a nice VR experience ahead of us... ;)

@TristanPR77  Well as of right now Microsoft hasn't released much information on their project, plus they said theirs would be augmented reality, don't know if that makes a difference but maybe once we get more information on it, we will see it being used for this game.

TabularBeast
TabularBeast

@dominoodle  Microsoft does have a project of their own, they said they have invested great amounts of money on it. They just have not released much information or a name yet.

TabularBeast

@khuzko  I don't see how this is a victory for only Sony, It will be releasing on both consoles. If you are saying that it's because Microsoft doesn't have a VR set of their own, well you're wrong.

Cloud_imperium

@khuzko Victory in full blurry 900p glory . Have you even tried VR .? These headsets are clearly designed for 4K gaming . Even in 1080p , everything looks blurry as hell .

Bezee4u
Bezee4u

@khuzko Off course, you're gonna buy a $100 + (probably) VR headset for just 1 stupid game..and then after that it goes under your bed and starts collecting dust alongside your spystation 4 :P

@playstationzone  where does it say its online only? I got an impression that the online/multyplayer is an option (similar to Dark Souls 2).
Am i wrong?

LordCrash88
LordCrash88

@Cloud_imperium  Ahem, no, not really. 1080p is all right for VR, but you need of course at least 60 FPS at the bare minimum all the time, which is the much greater task to fulfil. And 4k with 60 FPS is not possible with today's tech and won't be possible in the next few years if you don't want to invest a few thousand dollars in hardware.

And yes, I've tried the Rift, cloud. ;)

@Bezee4u

Funny you should call the playstation a spystation when you paid 5oo dollars for an inferior game console that ACTUALLY forces a camera on you. LOL. Silly xbot.

@repetitious well what happen you want to play the game again and when you play the game again no one online to play game. Thats why what wrong with only online game.

@Sl4cka It looked kinda neat but the price would have been way too high.  They already announced that they've dropped the technology.

@Chatch09  I sure hope not, for their sake. Now that's a gimmick if I ever saw one.

@LordCrash88 @Cloud_imperium  "you need of course at least 60 FPS at the bare minimum all the time"

I know you meant frames per second, but it's more fun to think you meant it needs at least 60 first person shooters.

DanielL5583
DanielL5583

@spartanx169x @DanielL5583@neowarrior121@playstationzone@repetitious It kinda does.

When a company has to shift focus onto a later game, they're stuck with the choice of either spending more money for servers on their end to keep support for the original going, or save money and use those servers to power the newer game, whilst buying some more space to use on the newer game to keep the older game running for a little longer.

The old has to be replaced by the new at some point, and support for the original will die eventually. It's a fact of life.

neowarrior121
neowarrior121

@playstationzone @repetitious  hes right, want an example? well to bad im saying one anyway..... gear of war the original game there nobody on thoes server anymore just one example.
