This World of Warcraft wedding is fantasy come to life

World of Warcraft-themed wedding featured Horde and Alliance flags on the altar, hand-crafted weapons.

One recently married couple loved World of Warcraft so much they decided to make Blizzard Entertainment's MMORPG the theme for their matrimony. The Offbeat Bride (via The Huffington Post) this week posted images of Jen and Nick's Warcraft-themed wedding and it's the ultimate fantasy come to life.

The Warcraft-themed wedding (which took place in New Hampshire) included Alliance and Horde flags on the altar and the couple also crafted their own weapons based on items from the game. Tables at the reception were even named after World of Warcraft raid bosses.

Jen and Nick did not meet in World of Warcraft, but that's where their relationship blossomed, Jen wrote on the website.

"He lived in New Hampshire at the time, and I was in Massachusetts, but we could talk through the game and grow together," she said. "So the game became part of the wedding theme, since it was so integral to our relationship. We aimed for a balance between nerd and tradition."

The wedding wasn't all about Warcraft, however. Jen's processional music was the Game of Thrones theme, while the after-party featured "Terra's Theme" from Final Fantasy. On top of that, when Jen and Nick presented each other with rings at the altar, the "Get Item" sound from The Legend of Zelda played.

Last month, BioWare recalled how two Mass Effect 3 players met, fell in love, and were eventually married. You can read that story here.

I approve of anything that makes two people happy together and embraces the nerd in all of us

Someone should've played the red wedding song during the ceremony :v

That is really cool and just shows that girls are as nerdy as boys, since it wasn't her "putting up with" this theme, but wanting it as well. I love the Game of Thrones theme, but I find it an odd choice for processional music. Don't they know what happens at weddings in that series?

The guy holding the flowers in the second picture looks like Ron Perlman, I wonder if he'll have a Hellboy-themed wedding, lol.

I don't care what anyone says. Finding a gamer chic you can enjoy your life with is awesome for us gamers. They share something that most other females don't do, or call it childish. And it already shows people lose their girlfriends/boyfriends from wow or any other game. I would love for my girl to be a gamer chic.

Congratulations! If there was some open pvp after the ceremony, THAT makes a wedding!

The point of a wedding is to make the ritual one's own, and not just fall into the trap of copying what everyone else has. World of Warcraft clearly had a significant part to play in their relationship. Might as well celebrate that.

Just imagine what they will think when they look back on these photo's...or their future kids asks "Mommy...this cant be your wedding !". They must have had a great time but i wonder what they will think about this in 10-20 years :), best idea they ever had or an embarrassment....guess only they will know when that time comes :)

This is why I love nerds! As long as you have fun, who cares?

Best wishes.

PS: Even though I haven't played WoW since a week into Cata, F the alliance..

I've never understood the stigma against WoW players, MMO players consider them casual, and other gamers consider them lifeless nerds.

And yet both do the exact same thing as all WoW players, enjoy their time playing video games.

Girl is much better looking than I expected.  Every attractive girl I've met/dated that said they "liked video games" then never played a single one or talked about them at all while with them.

@---Cipher---  Yeah this wedding looks like it was much more fun than any I've ever been to.  Thing is, they didn't take it crazy far anyway, they're still wearing regular traditional clothing.

@BuBsay maybe because they are attention whores about something that is fairly lame? There are millions of people doing lame stuff, but they keep it to themselves, no one bothers them. You plaster your self-indulgent crap everywhere, then other people have license to trash it. No one would hate Paris Hilton if she just stayed off television...

Strangely enough, some say those things only to make themselves stand out from other girls. The one I remember hearing was, "I like all kinds of music." Probably best to stay away from those superficial types because if they are lying about something so trivial....

@ps3gamer1234  Because you can't play World of Warcraft unless you're fat?  That would be like saying you can't play COD unless you're a 12 year old spoiled brat.

@ps3gamer1234  Same thing I thought ... to me that's a montage, they need more pounds in them!

@NiteX @ps3gamer1234  Yeah, correlation does imply causation, because otherwise you could make the claim that since both global warming and internet rage has increased in the last decades, that Internet rage heats up the planet.
