Go back to school.

Marvel has announced its next game, which takes a decidedly different approach from past titles in the series. Marvel Avengers Academy is a new adventure/simulation for mobile devices that sees the Avengers cast reimagined as student versions of themselves. Players will guide these up-and-coming superheroes (and villains) through "Super Hero school," developing and upgrading their powers along the way.

Marvel Avengers Academy is in development at Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff developer TinyCo, featuring "original, narrative-driven" stories written by TinyCo and Marvel Entertainment.

In the game, you can build your own Super Hero campus, outfitting it with things like training facilities, dorms, laboratories, classrooms, and sports stadiums. You can even partake in social events like going on dates or battling rival cliques (because yes, those exist in fantasy worlds, too).

Confirmed character so far include all of the usual suspects: Hawkeye, Black Widow, Loki, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Ms Marvel, and Hulk. Check out the image gallery below to get a closer look.

Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann added that Marvel Avengers Academy also contains a "shocking truth" for players to discover that exists beneath the campus they build. Rosemann is working on Marvel Avengers Academy alongside TinyCo, while writer Allen Warner and artist David Nakayama are also contributing to the project.
