Third time a charm for Ballerium?
Majorem's persistent-world online real-time strategy game is finding its legs again; servers up, publisher still missing.
Fans of Majorem's Ballerium have gone from ecstatic to disappointed...twice. The game, a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy title, was announced back in 2003, set for release in 2004, but cancelled due to problems with then-publisher Sanctum. The ambitious game was then picked up by Interplay, to the joy of fans. However, in June, a post on the game's official Web site announced that development had "come to a full stop," and the game's status was once again set to "cancelled."
Instead of seeing the project sputter out, Majorem has decided to give the game one more shot. The developer has raised funds from its own pockets and from the donations of gamers to reestablish servers. Beta testing is scheduled to begin soon, with a limited number of accounts available for gamers.
Although servers will be running and testing is in the works, Majorem cautions that, "It yet remains to be seen whether this could materialize into the continuation of the development of this MMO-RTS game."
