Minecraft: Pocket Edition sells for $7, meaning it has generated around $147 million in lifetime revenue. Of course, this doesn't include temporary price drops, so the figure may actually be somewhat lower.

Here's how Minecraft's franchises sales break down.

  • Minecraft for PC/Mac/Linux - 14.7 million copies
  • Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition - 12 million copies
  • Minecraft: PS3 Edition - 1 million copies

Total: 27.7 million copies

To celebrate the sales milestone, Mojang will hold a special live broadcast from its office in Sweden on Monday, April 14. You can submit questions through this Reddit thread.

The Minecraft craze isn't coming to an end anytime soon. A version of the game for Amazon's new Fire TV was released last week, while the game is also coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. On top of this, Warner Bros. is making a movie based on the franchise.
