Thief Achievement list shows 100G reward for a pacifist run

100G waiting for anyone who can finish Thief without killing or knocking out any character.

A full pacifist run of Square Enix's upcoming Thief reboot appears to be possible, according to an Achievement list obtained by Xbox Achievements.

Warning: spoilers follow!

The 100G Achievement "Moral Victory" is awarded to players who complete the whole game without knocking out or killing any characters. Square Enix has always maintained that it will be possible to complete the new game without killing anybody, although the confirmation in the game's Achievement list will likely be reassuring news to series fans.

Another Achievement is awarded to players who manage to reach the final chapter of the game without using the Focus ability.

The full 1000G is spread over 37 Achievements, with many awards handed out for collecting items, finishing quests, and completing the game across its difficulty modes.

For more info on Thief, GameSpot's Dan Hindes recently played the game and said it was taking the series back to its stealth roots.

Thief is scheduled to be released on February 28 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The game's art director has said the PC version will be better than the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions.

I remember accidentally killing people during my deux ex: human revolution and dishonoured playthroughs. Oh, I was pissed. Why did I have to find out after saving?

I'm not trying again. My 2nd dishonoured playthrough is going to be brutal.

Anyway, where was I?

The Predatory Drive achievement looks pretty amusing. Its the first "time attack" achievement I've seen that wants you to go slow, lol

I usually try to kill everyone in games like this.

That's a lot of, um, G's.  It would be nice if they were redeemable for some in-game bonus so they'd mean something, like how earning achievements/trophies in Catherine unlocked songs on the jukebox.

There was a similar achievement in Dishonored that is about as difficult to earn as is a job at mcdonalds, damn near impossible

After stealing all of this poor family's possessions the father killed his wife and kids in their sleep = PACIFIST!

Just in to check if 100G could possibly mean 100 grant.....errr, guess not.

I haven't played previous iterations of Thief, but these games have  caught my attention for years.  Not that I care much about achievements, but the idea of moving through an entire game without direct interaction has me intrigued.

I think achievements are meaningless, but this at least shows that it's possible to play the entire game without killing/knocking out anyone.

no killing is easy, but no knock outs? Wow that's tough. Pure stealth, ghost playthrough.

Although its cool an achievement like this exists, I cant see ever bothering attempting it. I guess if the game is short enough I'll give it a go. Achievements like these would ruin the game for me if I did it the first time through

This'll probably be less difficult than Dishonored, so i'm not expecting much from it. Looking at previews of the game, it seems like they have some changing to do.

Let's not forget another 100G for not playing the game, opening a book and reading it.

Can't even knock them out?  That's a bitch.  I usually do no kill runs on games like these, but no knock outs is gonna be a pain.  Unless avoiding enemies is hella easy.

I played Dishonored without killing anyone in my first run.

Looking forward to doing that in Thief

They still have to work on the whole sprint/jump button thingie.Dan Hindes mentioned about it and it sure sounded annoying.

hmmm.................. So I can get two trophies by completing the game without knocking out anyone while not using focus

@isshiahI played one complete non-lethal and one lethal playthrough and really noticed the differences during play in Dishonored (not so with DXHR, but enjoyed it nonetheless).

Now trying the same with the Dishonored DLC.

@tomservo51 I went a certain amount of Dishonored without killing anyone,. Until guards magically saw me at which point I got pissed and just killed everything. Especially when I played a second time on 360, in the Sewer level, and somehow accidentally killed someone, there goes that.

How do you feel about playing as a petty thieving degenerate who says stuff like "what's yours is mine" and shoot out torches with WATER ARROW?

@Hurvl Achievements are there for people that want to truly beat a game 100% and get their money worth of gameplay. You can also use it to compare your progress against your friends. They are great if you know how to take advantage of them.

@gamingnerd121 Dishonored had a stop time ability, and you could still knock people out... my bet is that this is way harder XD

@SpicaAntaresI'm one of those people that like to have the cake and eat it too.

in fact I can pick the cake, eat it, sleep with the one who made it, and then make them get me tea in bed after......

who said you cant have everything in life?!!!

@tinyname Hopefully it'll be similar to the recent dues ex, many routes and distractions to avoid baddies.

@tinyname Knowing modern stealth, there will be tons of ways to distract/avoid the enemies.

@gamefreak215jd I think sprint/jump is only a separate button on PC. On console, they are both one of the triggers, a la Assassin's Creed, so if you're playing like that you should be fine. Or, if you are playing on PC you will probably be able to rebind the controls.

@PeterDuck @neowarrior121 I had no doubt this would be the case. Squenix takes shits on games on their own, PC Gamer for example is just calling it like they see it. Once again Squeidos fucked up another formerly good franchise - so now we can add Thief, Hitman, and Tomb Raider to the Eidos graveyard. We all know Squenix themselves already ruined FF.

@MigzBR@HurvlWho says that getting all achievements means that you beat the game 100 % or that you'll then get your money's worth of gameplay? That decision should be entirely up to you, not a glorified to-do-list made by someone else. If you feel like you have done all that you care to do in the game, *then* you've completed the game 100 %. The number of achievements you've unlocked by that time is irrelevant and so is the gamerscore. Sure, people might think that it's fun to unlock achievements and all that, but it's only as relevant as you make it.

@BehemothBlade@tinyname Probably, I did deus ex, dishonored, all MGS games and a ton of others with no kills.  But I usually either knock people out or tranq them in the process.

@PeterDuck @neowarrior121 Yea, read it. That brings up a point - the brothel in Dishonored is also kind of empty but at least it seems to be alive - it's just that you can't talk to anyone or be seen without it degrading into battle.

@tinyname @BehemothBlade Ahhh Deus Ex.  I went full Neo at the end of the game.  With nanites and armor fully upgraded I was unstoppable.  Dues Ex with no kills...that took some time.

@youre_a_sheep @tinyname @19James89 Excluding Battletoads, not really. Some of those games were "difficult" because they were literally broken and unfinished.

@BehemothBlade @tinyname @19James89 Not once you get the pattern.  I watch my kid beat the bosses in 2 minutes or less.  And they figured out the boss fights pretty quickly.
