If a leak is to be believed, Steam's Summer Sale doesn't start until later this month. However, if you want discounts on PC games now, you can take advantage of GOG's Summer Sale, which is on now and discounts of more than 1000 games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Rebel Galaxy, and Day of the Tentacle Remastered.

GOG's Summer Sale also gives users the chance to unlock free games. System Shock 2 is available for free to anyone who downloads the GOG Galaxy client and visits the sale. Other games like Spelunky, Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, and Dreamfall Chapters can be earned with XP collected by participating in activites and buying games during the sale.

The sale will feature new deals every day with the first being The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for $25, Rebel Galaxy for $10, and Day of the Tentacle Remastered for $10. Homeworld Remastered Collection continues its introductory sale of $17.50. You can check out all the deals right here.

GOG will also hold community Twitch Plays events on games like Stardew Valley and Grim Fandango Remastered. The Twitch events will give all involved an XP boost. The first begins Thursday, June 9, at 9 AM PT.

GOG is run by Witcher developer CD Projekt Red. The Witcher 3 recently received its final expansion, Blood and Wine. It received a score of 8 in GameSpot's review, in which critic Kevin VanOrd concluded, "[protagonist] Geralt deserves to be called a legend, of course, not least because he stars in one of the greatest role-playing games ever made. Perhaps we will join him in yet another adventure, but if Blood and Wine is the White Wolf’s final interactive appearance, he at least departs in style."

Homeworld Remastered Collection went DRM-free on GOG recently. It came with an update that provided combat enhancements, reworked Formations logic, and more. You can see it all for yourself here.
