Sega has released The Typing of the Dead: Overkill on Steam, a spelling-themed riff on the onetime Wii exclusive The House of the Dead: Overkill.

The game costs $19.99/£14.99, with a 50 percent savings in effect until November 1.

The original version of The House of the Dead: Overkill is also included, and an update allowing co-op play will be released as a free download in the future.

The House of the Dead: Overkill adopted a Grindhouse-style aesthetic and at one point boasted that it contained the most amount of swearing in a video game at the time. A PlayStation 3 version was later released in 2011, two years after the Wii original.

Cult original The Typing of the Dead was originally released in Japanese arcades in 1999, and was based on The House of the Dead 2. The game was later released for the PC in 2000, with a Dreamcast release following in 2001.
