The Sims 4 coming fall 2014

Coming to PC and Mac next year.

EA has dated The Sims 4 for a fall 2014 release on PC and Mac.

Following developer Maxis' controversial release of the always-online SimCity earlier in 2013, The Sims 4 will be a single-player game that does not require an Internet connection to play. An Origin account will be required for activation, however.

The Sims 4 will contain a new feature, dubbed SmartSim, which promises to make it easier for players to build and modify houses. The game's Create-A-Sim mode has also been enhanced from previous games, EA says.

Footage of the game was shown during EA's Gamescom 2013 press conference.

EA also this afternoon confirmed that Respawn Entertainment's anticipated shooter Titanfall will be released on March 11, 2014.

Sims: The fattest milking cow there is... how many expansions have we had counting from Sims1?

I've made the conscious decision not to buy any more expansion for these games. The sole purpose now isn't to make exciting extra content, but to gyp the customer out of anything good or nice in the game unless they pay extra for it. I'm tired of it. IF I ever buy this there will be no expansions.

I wonder if it will be riddled with long term bugs, like Sims 3.

And the circle can begin again with a main game that has enough things missing so that they can release a dozen expansions and stuff packs and deluxe editions. It's so crazy that it actually works.

@Grenadeh The Milks 4: Legendairy Edition, preorder now and get two extra costumes!

This one is going to sell horribly compared to its predecessors with everything EA has done.

An Origin account will be required for activation... and it starts.

The Sims it's the best simulator and one of the few exclusive games for PC that it's great.

I will buy for Mac.

@Diegoctba Hah, hardly exclusive, but it does seem to get released (and developed) for PC first, which matter more. Then you'll get like 6-9 ports of it, because the graphics and whatnot are so simple that it'll work on anything without trouble.

From what I understand about the game so far, it actually improves quite a bit over The Sims 3, especially in Create-a-Sim and build mode, which is good news to me because that's always been my favorite part of the games, haha.

I don't know why, but these games always have me addicted for a few weeks. Then I get bored, and randomly pick it up later and get addicted again.

Wow another EA game guessing they will try to push it to be free to abuse and chock full of microtransaction with the marketing ad saying buy sims 4 get the first sim free but nude with no money standing on a dusty lot with no neighbors just buzzards circling you waiting for you to die and to get the rest of the content ya must buy each item from between 4.99-15.99 each with extra sims being 19.99 per new sim in your town and MY GAWD to get a new town wil run you nearly as much as the full retail game did... I have no faith in anything EA.

I've played all of the Sims games and I get crazy addicted to them for about 3 days and then never play again. I hope I have the willpower to ignore this one.

Nude patch coming out 3 days later.

@EuroLaser @tomservo51 Man, I don't understand what people get out of that. The graphics aren't even that detailed. I can see why nude mods for Skyrim would be popular, but this? Since I can't get turned on by turning a game on, I guess I'll never grasp what others see in these mods. Real girls, yeah, that's the good stuff.

LOL, will the Sim City disaster occur with this?

phoenix1289

@Riddick123 no. They have already stated that the game can be played without an internet connection.

If it is possible to import Sims 2 clothes in the game, I'll be happy.

Yeah guys, you should totally place your trust in EA and Maxis again. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? So it's going to be online, but you can play with your other casual friends... on the line! Isn't it awesome!?!?!?!? Expansion packs? Those are the past. Back then, the game you bought was the game you got. Today is the future of DLC and digital only and always online and social friends and glitter and ponies and myspace. If you don't buy, support and push your friends into Sims 4 you're clearly a commie and God will cast you in the depths of Hell.

coldfusion25

@xsonicchaos Say all you want to say but casual gamers (their target audience) don't give a damn. They'll buy it even if they recycle The Sims 1 with The Sims 3 graphics.

YEPEE00
YEPEE00

@coldfusion25 @xsonicchaos the only thing i truely am worried about is if they don't update the main game play with emotions and make the sims more self reactive.

PStrife

I do not see why you need the Origin account either.  EA really t-bagging consumers these days with unnecessary DRM BS.

chibi-acer

@PStrife Shrug.  The Sims is the only reason I use Origin.  You can play without a disc in the drive, no hacks required.

I can barely go grocery shopping for myself. How can I take care of in-game people?

Hurvl
Hurvl

@RicanV Answer: you don't! Some people take great fun in coming up with ways to torment and even kill their dear Sims. Want to swim in the pool? Here, I'll removie the ladder so that you can't up again. Hmmm, I wonder how long he can go on without drowning? Needing to go the bathroom? Oops, the door turned into a wall, I guess you're trapped in here.

I am of course not so cruel. I will only decapitate, incinerate and kill people in other painful ways if they're trying to kill me first. Only fair, wouldn't you say?
