After a not-so-subtle hint last year, Publisher EA and developer Maxis have officially confirmed the next expansion pack for its popular PC sequel, The Sims 2.

Unlike other products in the series, The Sims 2: Open for Business will let players follow their little computer people off to work. (In previous games, sim characters would simply disappear from the game for several in-game hours while at work.) The expansion will let sim characters craft new items to sell at stores, use various sales techniques to push their wares, and hire and fire employees. GameSpot also has a first look at a new video trailer that suggests such businesses as electronics stores, hair salons, restaurants, and clothing shops are possible entrepreneurial endeavors.

Open for Business will be the third expansion pack for The Sims 2. Like other products in the series, Open for Business will let players take control of the lives of gibberish-speaking characters known as "sims" as they live, love, and take bathroom breaks. The expansion pack is scheduled for release later this year.
