The Scars of Velious Tops the Charts

The expansion for Verant's popular online role-playing game is the latest best-seller.

Comments

EverQuest: The Scars of Velious took first place in PC Data's top-selling games list for the week of December 3-9. The expansion pack adds several new areas, monsters, and items to Sony's popular online role-playing game EverQuest. The Scars of Velious was developed by Verant, the creator of EverQuest, and unlike the previous expansion pack, EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark, The Scars of Velious caters to experienced players with high-level characters.

The virtual life game The Sims from Electronic Arts slipped to second place, and Hasbro's Roller Coaster Tycoon continued its incredible sales streak and came in at number three. The theme park management game has been on store shelves for well over 18 months now, and it's still going strong, supported by the ongoing release of expansion packs such as Roller Coaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes, which took seventh place in this week's list. The Sims: Livin' Large expansion pack sold itself into fourth place this week, and Disney's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire 2nd Edition rode the television quiz show's wave of popularity into fifth place.
