The Return of Sega's Pico

Majesco to distribute Sega's Pico hardware and software once again in the US.

Majesco announced on Thursday that it has expanded its relationship with Sega of America. The company will soon remanufacture and distribute Sega's Pico hardware and software in the US. The Pico, a gaming platform catering to a young audience, was formerly released in the US during the Sega Genesis era. The product was eventually discontinued by Sega after interest in the system subsided.

Under the Majesco brand, the Pico system will sell for US$49.99. Software for the system will be priced at $19.99.

Seven titles will be available for the system:

A Year at Pooh CornerDisney's 101 DalmationsDisney's The Lion King: Adventures at Pride RockMagic CrayonsMickey's Blast into the PastRichard Scarry's Huckle and Lowly's Busiest Day EverSesame Street

"We're pleased to be bringing this successful system for learning and fun to today's children at an affordable price for their parents," says Morris Sutton, chairman of Majesco Sales Inc. "Preliminary indications from a major retailer show strong early sales, and we're also evaluating several more software titles for possible launch by the holiday season."

Majesco's incarnation of the Pico hardware will be available with the seven titles in time for the holiday season.
