As reported by Collider, Fox has revealed that The Predator will arrive on March 2, 2018. In addition, the studio has moved the release of Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant forward to August 4, 2017. It was originally scheduled to hit cinemas on October 6, but the film will now form part of the studio's summer slate.

Alien: Covenant will act as both a sequel to Scott's 2012 film Prometheus, and a prequel to his classic Alien. It is expected that the movie will start filming in Australia in April, and the impressive cast includes Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, and Hateful Eight star Demian Bichir.

The Predator will be directed by Iron Man 3's Shane Black. Black himself acted in the original Predator, the 1987 smash starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

To date there have been four further films in the series, including a direct sequel, 1990's Predator 2, two Alien vs. Predator movies, and 2010's Robert Rodriguez-produced Predators.
