The OzSpot 08/05/12

This week: Star Wars, Vita, and Microsoft's $99 Xbox 360.

Hey everyone!

On this week's show we look at what the industry's top analysts think about next-gen consoles blocking used games; we throw around the idea of owning consoles on a monthly plan; plus, comparing the 3DS with the Vita, how is the latter measuring up?

We also ask Dan about how his droid pants are going. (I guess you have to listen to find out what the hell this even means.)

The SoundCloud file is below. RSS feed is also live and coming soon: you will be able to listen to the OzSpot on your mobile phone without any hassles. Stay tuned for updates.

The Twitch TV stream is below. The OzSpot begins at the 05:00 mark!

Also just a friendly heads up, the OzSpot Podcast link in the Culture tab doesn't link where it should (i assume).

With the Vita, I reckon the Playstation should make some deals with idie devs to port stuff like super meat boy, and torchlight over, entice indie devs to make more games with release fee deals, and start porting some old playstation classics over. I agree with Jess, the hardware is good, and I'd buy it if there was anything worth playing on it.

My main problem with origin is the lack of games and variety. Steam just has so much content I doubt origin will be able to match even with all the big titles they have or will have.

I could put a cigarette out on my forearm and that would approximate the Origin experience.  Shame on me for ever straying from Steam.

Sorry I missed Twitch TV. I purposely overslept passed 1 o'clock. Anyway, hey everyone.

I played Xenoblade Chronicles going up to level 80 on Prison Island. For the first topic, it might be bad but it's well compensated. Example Wii U is going to have Gamecube downloads instead to make up for the loss with hopefully button layout changes to fit like Wii Remote and Nunchuk and the Wii U tablet controller. The second topic, the 3DS may be like DS with a slightly larger cartridge base almost similar between SNES and N64 games based on graphic standards. The PSP and Vita has better graphics and uses UMD and with better button layout. Still compare the 3DS to Vita, Vita works more for mature games while 3DS is the same but still more emphasis with kids in mind. That's my opinion. Anyway, I promise not to oversleep next week.

By the way, nice dress Laura.

@sieg6529 Was it a forced switch because EA content you wanted wasn't available on Steam, or were you looking for an alternative?
