2K Games has officially announced Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. That's right: not Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

The specifics line up with the information that leaked out earlier this week: the game is set on Pandora's Moon and takes place between the events of Borderlands 1 and 2. A younger Handsome Jack guides you through the game, and you play as one of his four lieutenants: Athena The Gladiator, Wilhelm The Enforcer, Nisha The Lawbringer, or Claptrap. Yup, the Claptrap: the one that joins the players in Borderlands 2.

The game still features tons of randomised loot, and there's a new cryo effect that allows enemies to be frozen, alongside laser weaponry that comes in multiple shapes and sizes. Players now also get their hands on Oz packs, which supply oxygen when out on the moon and also function as a jetpack. A jetpack that lets players ground pound enemies.

The game is being developed primarily by 2K Australia, with original series developer Gearbox Software also chipping in. Perhaps it's just a coincidence, but a lot of the crazed enemies running around the surface of the moon had Australian accents.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be released in fall 2014. Five other new screenshots for the game are below. For more information, check out GameSpot's first look blowout.
