The New and Improved GameSpot Blog

GameSpot has a new daily blog to bring you the latest in original programming, community content, and of course contests and sweepstakes!

Get ready to welcome a new era of user spotlights, interactions with our staff members, and a breakdown of all of the great content on GameSpot. The GameSpot blog will be the place to visit to get informed on all things GameSpot and community interaction.

Here's a little bit what you can hope to expect from us in our daily updates.

Monday: This Week on GameSpot…

This will be a brief overview of what to look forward to on the site. This list will include GameSpot original content, special features, previews, new releases, and site updates.

Tuesday: GameSpotting

GameSpotting will feature the best of the best in our community, highlighting forum discussions, user blogs, reviews, and tweets. This will also be where we spotlight one of our fantastic moderators.

Wednesday: Spot Talk

Spot talk will be all about getting to know the people behind the content you love. Each week we will feature one of our original pieces of content as well as a game review, giving you a chance to talk to the staff member who produced it.

Thursday: Social Share

Social Share will be the day that we highlight what's on the minds of our staff members via their twitter feeds. It will also be the day were we check out the days of old with a Throwback Thursday post.

Friday: The To Do List.

The To Do List will be a sneak peek at our weekend programming to get you excited for Saturday and Sunday. Friday will also feature a unique Community Challenge, testing your skills as a GameSpot community member. And of course, this is the day where we will announce any new contests or sweepstakes we're currently having.

We will be kicking things off tomorrow with the community front and center on GameSpotting. Get ready to see some awesome content from your fellow GameSpot members.

This is terrible.  None of these are very appealing.  Just bring back "On the Spot" where you brought in actual game developers to demo games that are coming out, great prize giveaways, and so on.  This list?  I'm yawning already.

If it's as "new and improved" as your awful Stacks system, no thank you!

I was wondering what they were going to do with these "blogs".

Days of old?  How old?  Because you folks go way, way back.

Awesome. Looking forward to see what this is all about.

I'd like to note that the LiveFyre comments used on this site cause performance issues on anything, but a desktop. Even then, the comments still slow down pages.

On my iPad the comments are nearly broken. Trying to follow a conversation is nearly impossible with constantly hanging Ajax calls they use to update the comments section. Using @[username] doesn't work right and doesn't automatically add the user you are replying to. The closest competing software I've seen/used is Disqus and the experience is better. LiveFyre doesn't have a dashboard for viewing all your conversations in one place, which would be helpful. Maybe gamespot could add this to the user profiles?

Enough rambling....

I'm looking forward to these new shows. I like hearing the opinions of the Gamespot staff.

I'm not really into Blogs as of yet so I will just read and watch how this goes. Thanks for the update I guess.

@Ehggsz On the Spot was live show, this is our blog schedule. We do daily live streams on our site and give out prizes when available. We also did a weekly giveaway through the community news every week from September to December.

@Zloth2 actually I've been coming here since the domain was videogames.com. That was back in maybe...early 90s?

@Chr0noid Can you please elaborate? We do not fix these issues ourselves, but pass them on to the dev team.

@deadpeasant I find the best place to get sort of "off the record" and more strong opinions of the staff is the Gamespot Gameplay episodes.

@obsequies@Zloth2 In the early 90's I think the WWW was pretty much all text and pretty much ignored.  (We were all too busy looking at John Romero's finger, anyway. ;))  Mid-90's sounds pretty likely, though.

@ohaifrancy@Chr0noidI changed my avatar to something different about 8 months ago.  But it's still displaying my old avatar (the one you see here).

@Chr0noid

A fix for that was posted around november/december last year. I don't have a link to it atm but you might want to search for that or just try and change your avatar again now.

I managed to change mine anyway (although there's no animation u_u)
