by

The GameSpot office was abuzz with activity this week, which saw reviews of some of the highest-profile games of the year, including Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and Fable III. There was news aplenty thanks to such events as the shock resignations of Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune and Take-Two CEO Bed Feder. The previews crew got a look at upcoming titles from Nintendo and BioWare, and the video crew had a marathon session of Now Playing featuring Microsoft's Kinect motion-sensing system.

Keiji Inafune is now a free agent.

NEWS
It was a busy week at the newsdesk, starting with write-ups from BlizzCon 2010 and ending with earnings from some of the biggest names in gaming, including Sega Sammy, Capcom, and Sony. Sandwiched in the middle was Microsoft's own stellar earnings report, which revealed that Halo: Reach has generated over $350 million. Nintendo posted a rare loss, thanks to slowing Wii and DS sales and harsh exchange rates. Finally, the PSP Go got a $50 price cut the same week the PlayStation 2 celebrated its 10th anniversary in North America.

PREVIEWS
This week, the GameSpot previews team journeyed into the jungles with an extensive look at Donkey Kong Country Returns. The Super Nintendo classic is being reimagined by the same studio that brought people the Metroid Prime series, so hopes are high for this upcoming platformer. The team also ventured into the dark fantasy world of Dragon Age II with a preview focused on the changes made to the rogue class. And finally, be sure to have a look at GameSpot's hands-on preview of The UnderGarden, an atmospheric 2D side-scroller with echoes of PixelJunk Eden and Flower.

Hmm. This has been a very retro-themed year. I'm hyped for the 3DS.

NIce Now Playing Kinect video, GS. A good hour of your playing Kinect games gave me a better idea of what the system can do and how it performs. Thanks. I'm looking forward to the reviews.

Force Unleashed 2 is amazing. Who cares what the ratings say. Fable III is also amazing but it got good reviews.

Very sick month...two of my favorite games; SW TFU2 and Fable III; turned out to be extremely disappointing.

@chilly-chill Every band you named is metal and main stream. Lots of screaming and heavy drums which a lot of people don't wanna hear. I sure as hell don't. So I think what you meant is "Put something on rockband that isn't on MTV."

Sad to see Fable and Star wars get 7's but not everything is perfect these days. Im still buying fable 3 though, I loved the last 2 games, Im not missing out on this one! Lets see how Blood stone and Goldeneye will fare. Blood stone, Im looking around the 7's. As for Goldeneye, depending on how shooters are judged these days, nostalgia will be the key term here

I cant wait for Donkey kong country returns. As far as Side scrollers go, especially if its made by nintendo, Donkey kong country is the most craziest on gameplay and Retro studios took that into fruition. I heard a Nintendo developer and some other guy lost 50 LIVES on ONE SESSION! Retro studios isnt playing around with the difficulty!

Nintendo's sales are probably going to go up with the list of games coming out soon. It should be a good holiday season for us gamers too :)

rock band 3 could quite possibly be the best rhythm game available ever! the keyboard alone is enough to keep someone busy for months trying to master pro mode, then there's guitar and bass pro, plus the numerous goals in the game.

God of War review will be up in about 10-15 minutes, the video review is being uploaded as we speak. We'll get to the Rock Band 3 PS3 review at some point, I'm sure. We were only sent the X360 version, and Chris who reviewed it had to move onto other assignments as soon as he finished that one, including WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011, which isn't included in the story above yet, but will also be live shortly.

The keyboard is cool. I have to practice some more to get the hang of it, but all in all it's wonderful :0
