Sega has announced that its upcoming Wii U game Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric will now be released on November 11 instead of November 18.

No explanation for the move was provided, but releasing on November 11 means Rise of Lyric won't have to go up against Rockstar Games' hotly hyped Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Rise of the Lyric is coming to Wii U, while Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal is headed to 3DS. That game was always scheduled to launch on November 11. Big Red Button is handling Sonic Boom for Wii U, while Sanzaru Games is responsible for the 3DS iteration.

The two new Sonic Boom titles are part of Sega's wider effort to revitalize the Sonic brand this year across games, TV, and toys.

Though Rise of Lyric is no longer launching on November 18, that date is still home to other marquee title releases, including Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and the Xbox One and PS4 versions of WWE 2K15.
