During The Game Awards, Embark Studios announced that its first-person multiplayer shooter The Finals is surprise-launching today. The game should be available now or soon across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The Finals was previously available through an open beta that gave players a taste of what the game is all about, and people seemed generally excited about it. However, it later came to light that the game uses AI text-to-speech for voiceover, which upset a number of people.

During its open beta, The Finals attracted a huge audience and became one of the top-played games on Steam. The Finals is a free game that is supported by microtransactions.

Embark Studios is a relatively new game development studio founded by former Battlefield studios. The Finals is published by Nexon.
