The Division getting exclusive content on Xbox One

Upcoming next-generation Tom Clancy game will feature exclusive content on Microsoft's upcoming console; PC version confirmed.

The Xbox One version of Tom Clancy's The Division will receive exclusive content, Microsoft announced today at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

Microsoft did not detail what form this content would take. The company previously announced that The Division will have SmartGlass support.

Separately, Ubisoft announced today that The Division is coming to the PC. Previously, it was confirmed only for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

"Since E3 we have been carefully listening to what has been said on the Internet," executive producer Fredrik Rundqvist said in a statement. "I can't stress enough how important it has been for us to feel your support, interest, and commitment to the game. Your opinions matter to us. The positive energy you bring back to the team will help us create the best game possible."

"One of the most frequently discussed topics has been that of releasing The Division on PC. With that in mind, I'm very pleased to announce that the game will be available on PC," he added. "Massive Entertainment has its roots in PC development with titles like Ground Control and World in Conflict. You can be certain that we will provide you with a first-rate PC experience."

Powered by a new Snowdrop game engine, The Division is an open-world action shooter in development at Ubisoft Massive. The game will launch in fall 2014.

Exclusive content is likely Kinect functionalities that nobody cares about.

If gamespot is not xbox biased, how come "unspecified exclusive content for xbox" is bigger news than "Division confirmed for PC"?

Gotta ask yourself why XONE is getting more DLC content first? Is EA, Ubisoft, Sony and MS actually working together? I must say competition makes for more larger sales gets the community riled up and excited! Without it your just Nintendo! haha

Another attempt by Microsoft to fix their fuck ups. This is only an attempt to sell more consoles by promising some shitty, worthless exclusive content on a console that's trying to crawl out of the pit.
But.. kudos to you Xbox One players.

I like play shooters on PC, but seriously... can't we just let the consoles have their games sometimes? Why is it that when a great shooter comes to consoles and not PCs that there seems to be instant torches and pitchforks and demands to the developer to make a PC version?

Man, they are trying so hard to get people to buy Xbox One it's almost embarrasing.  Anyway, PC VERSION CONFIRMED, LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm mainly a PC gamer, but I pre-ordered both the new consoles mainly due to big points/credits that I had nothing else I wanted to get with.  I think they are going to mostly end up dust collector's though with so many titles available on PC.  I really prefer the PC overall, but the prices alone are going to be a huge discouraging factor in deciding which platform to get a game on.  Hmm, maybe I should just sell them or at least one.

Sony and Microsoft go to some really stupid and pathetic measures to get consumers to buy their systems. It's like when a developer releases different game versions for different stores to get you to buy it , you buy it at Amazon you get this, buy it at Gamestop get that. It leaves you with a bad taste watching these two companies beg for consumers attention.

"Upcoming next-generation Tom Clancy game will feature exclusive content on Microsoft's upcoming console; PC version confirmed."

I had to re-read that subtitle, as the first time I read it made it sound like the PC version was the exclusive content, lol

What miscrosoft means by "exclusive content" is timed DLC like always.

Guess it was too much to hope that the content cutting would be more rare next gen >.>

funny that an upcoming game looks awesome and all of the PC lovers shit themselves that they might not be able to play it and DEMAND it should come to PC. I have used both and can honestly say that they only games i think benefit from pc are ones such as age of empires or wow.

Well it's about damn time Ubisoft. The thought of having to play this game on console made me sick and i wouldn't have purchased it.

This. This x1000. I'm a console gamer but it's great to see PC gamers getting some love here. Equal support for all platforms can only be a good thing & 3rd party exclusivity deals, regardless of where they appear, are a scourge that need to disappear from gaming for good. Both Sony & MS are guilty of this & it needs to fucking well stop, yesterday. Punishing someone for owning a different platform even though the game appears on all of them is a low, low scummy act & it shows incredible disrespect for ones customers.

@Youisdienow sounds like the in-debt sony and their idea of trying to lure sheep with exclusive destiny dlc

@SacredGrey I really suck at competitive shooters with gamepad. So I was hoping this would come out on PC

Youisdienow
Youisdienow

@SacredGrey I get your point, but your argument doesn't make a lot of sense. The reason why PC gamers want certain games on PC is because they don't want to be forced to buy a console to play a game that might be the runner-up for GOTY. Besides, this will only boost the company's sales and thereby the budget next year to develop even better games. It's a win-win, since this game is most likely only online, pirating it will probably prove to be a bit difficult.

OMIGAWD LET'S FIND WAYS TO TAKE JABS AT THE XBOX BECAUSE I'M SO KOOL, TOO KOOL FOR SKOOL.

Can we just be excited or move on? I'm just saying. It's getting very boring to see the biased dolts run into every thread to bash Xbox.

BestJinjo

@hystavito Well the decision is made for you - all 3rd party cross-platform games will have superior controls, graphics, resolution on the PC. They will also fall in price the quickest on the PC and have the best sales on the PC via Steam/Origin and GreenManGaming. The only thing consoles are good for are sports games and their exclusives. Unfortunately the number of exclusives keep dwindling each generation. As a PC gamer I found Xbox 360 completely redundant last generation. I am looking to MS changing their strategy but with Titanfall and Division now coming to the PC, they are doing the opposite - undermining their platform for PC gamers. The fact that XB1 has a non-upgradeable fixed 500GB HDD and costs $100 over PS4 kills that deal for me over PS4 too.  While XB1 will sell well in US and UK, worldwide PS4 will cream it unless MS ditches Kinect, drops the price $100 at least and starts focusing on getting more exclusives like Forza 5 for it. Otherwise, XB1 is like a 50% less powerful PS4 with less flexibility for upgrades and $100 higher price tag. Lame.

ViciousRDS
ViciousRDS

@lonesamurai1

You could think of it that way, but that's not what's really going on. It's simple statistics. If they can pay out a little money to make these deals and sway just enough people to get their version over the other version in order to make up more than the initial cost, they'll do it. It's pretty simple.

@Simulator_Shock I love these comments, because it is one of the times I get to say: What Sony means by "exclusive content" is timed DLC like always. That is all that will be available in the Sony content exclusive games that are coming, like Watch Dogs, and many of the indie titles they unveiled today will be coming to Xbox One in the future, they are just making their "Exclusive Console Debut" on PS4.

murph85

@lonesamurai1 Heaven forbid you play a game on a console. I've been doing it since the NES.

puukusa

@deadly_yank33 Actually 'sheep' is a good designation of a preson staying a brand fanboy despite crap exclusives, nerfed HW and corporation countinuously trying to screw its customers.

Of all my friends I was the only one to have both consoles, now everyone has converted from XONE to PS4. Dude, FFS, WAKE UP!

puukusa
puukusa

@Youisdienow "hereby the budget next year to develop even better games"... stupid argument.

Anyway - buy PS3 get all first party exclusives minus Little Big Planet plus Red dead redemption and you will consider PS3 the greatest buy since the dishwasher. Especially since PS3 costs 199$ (a mediocore graphics card)

ShadowOfKratos
ShadowOfKratos

@Youisdienow @SacredGrey

And since GTAV will have a constantly evolving online experience and thus basically a primarily online game, R* should also release that on the PC. It's just another example.

@AncientDozer @Yatsukiii Microsoft deserves all the bashing we could possibly give them for a couple years at least after what they tried to pull.

@BestJinjo @hystavito you assessment that xbox1 is 50% less powerful than PS4 is far from true while all developers kept saying how identical these are. regardless, im a PC gamer and not gonna get any console anyways :P im so happy more and more games are coming to the PC. all im missing now is GTAV and im set.

lonesamurai1
lonesamurai1

@ViciousRDS it's pathetic BUY MY CONSOLE, HEY LOOK AT THIS, LOOK AT THE GAMES ON OUR SYSTEM! Bottom line the gamer loses because he didn't buy the other version to see all the content that's being delivered. Consoles are all about GIMMICKS..

murph85
murph85

@Kashmiro @Simulator_Shock The Watch Dogs content will be exclusive to the Sony consoles but it will also be available for PC. Just like PC players got to play the Benedict Arnold DLC in AC III but that content was not on the 360.

@Kashmiro @Simulator_Shock I just watched the nearly 2 hour long Sony conference, OMG I wanted to kill myself.......indie, indie, indie, indie, indie, indie, indie, indie, indie, indie, indie, indie......followed by them saying "Exclusive Console Debut" 1000 times.

@lonesamurai1 @Slade968 @ViciousRDS Sigh, morons will be morons. If you don't like the system, don't play it. Just shut the fuck up, tired of you whiney pieces of shit. I don't play PS or Wii, but they both have their good points, same with PC same with XBOX.

@Sir_Claude @Ellb91 @cephas90

I am not a nerd, can't say that graphics and performance make games more enjoyable to me, wish it did in a way, wouldn't be so hard to find games. I agree with Ellb91 on this one, i also prefer gaming on consoles, for shooters i find mouse and keyboard a LOT easier to use, but i have more fun with a gamepad. Since fun is the main reason why i play, ill go with the gamepad, even though it;s harder, i don't mind the challenge.

PartyGavinParty

@Sir_Claude @Ellb91 @cephas90 Opinions aren't facts at all dude. I have a ton of games on my computer but I always end up playing on my console because it has a more dedicated and simple feel. Plus I don't have to worry about all of the technical stuff behind what could be wrong with my game.

Sir_Claude
Sir_Claude

@Ellb91 @cephas90 Nope, if you were highly observant you would not make that statement... performance and graphics wise pc's always come out on top, ,so you are wrong, most games are more enjoyable on a computer and that is fact!
