The Boston Bruins will win the 2014 Stanley Cup...according to EA Sports

Simulation shows that Bruins will defeat the san Jose Sharks in six games to take home the title.

The Boston Bruins will win the 2014 Stanley Cup, defeating the San Jose Sharks in six games to claim the title. That's according to an EA Sports simulation of this year's playoffs, the results of which were released today.

Boston's beloved professional hockey team will advance to the finals by defeating the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final after a grueling seven-game series, according to the simulation. EA's simulation also says that Bruins goal-scorer Patrice Bergeron will come up clutch for the squad, scoring five minutes into OT to seal the deal.

EA's NHL playoffs simulation is conducted by using NHL 14. Results also factor in line combinations, player ratings, and variances like injuries and hot streaks as a means to provide the most authentic outcome of a game or series.

Other storylines from EA Sports' NHL playoffs simulation include the Chicago Blackhawks losing a heartbreaking Game 7 match to the Colorado Avalanche, thereby crushing their chances of repeating as Stanley Cup champions.

Developed by EA Canada, NHL 14 launched in September 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and is the most recent entry in the series. EA Sports has not announced a new game in the franchise, which would presumably come to new consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

It would have been better if they won last year.

I am waiting for PS4 version.I beat crap out of my friends in NHL14,hope they won't do anything with shot stick techniques, because it's hilarious when I score 9th score in top corner and they can't do anything and throw gamepad in the wall:-D

Erm excuse me Gamespot why was my second contribution wiped away, sorry 'pending'? And of course that also means you wiped away the comical naive two pennies' worth ryanc22 chipped in back at me hohum. So in the interests of democracy please don't censor the people and thus here goes again, I posted........

"Oh and by the way as a good British Protestant I hate absolutely everything about filthy fenian Boston, that shit hole raised millions of dollars for oirish catholic terrorists for decades but bleated like big babies when a Russian muslim detonated an amateurish bomb at the marathon a year ago.

What goes around comes around, call it Kennedy karma if you wish!"

Then ryancc22 snapped back with this priceless reply.......

"chasloyal  And Irish catholic terrorists? This coming from someone's who background is known for colonizing a quarter of the world and enslaving people, come on give me a break."

The Rangers in the ECF?  Not a chance.  Bergeron being clutch?  100% accurate.

To quote Dave Goucher after Bergeron capped off an epic Bruins OT comeback last year against the Maple Leafs after being down 4-1 with 11 minutes left, "BERGERON, BERGERON, BERGERON."

Blackhawks vs Red Wings is my ideal finish, with the former winning of course.  Let's go Hawks!

It's obvious the Texas Rangers will smash DC United in one semi final and the LA Rams will just scrape through against Orlando Magic in the other but who will go on to win the Kentucky Deby out of them two is anyone's guess?

Thank god corporate scum bags Red Bull New York didn't make it through to the World Series this year though eh?

Bad enough Red Bull Salzburg have already won the Austrian Bundesliga and Red Bull Leipzig are looking likely to get promoted from the third Bundesliga to the second Bundesliga in Germany in the next few weeks. Two Mickey Mouse clubs with big multi million Euro stadiums but no fans, never mind ultras or hooligans......fuck em!

And the Denver Broncos were going to beat Seattle in Superbowl 48 according to Madden/EA Sports. Oh wait...

That was the most common result after running the sim thousands of times, right? Right???

Just one round of simulations? Their SB prediction was a little off. Best run a few dozen more for more accurate results. No Seidenberg could mean a much tougher road. Not shocked, the Bruins are a strong team.

Check again EA since your games are filled with bugs.

I hope to see Tampa in the finals! But Boston does seem unstoppable as of late.

I don't doubt this prediction at all.  Anyone know if their most recent Super Bowl simulation actually correctly made the prediction?

Okay, I like Pens.  If they meet up with Boston in the Eastern Finals, I don't see the Pens advancing.  The Pens should beat Columbus.  Further, if the Pens meet Tampa Bay or the New York Rangers they should advance to the finals (it's impossible for the Pens to meet Montreal in Round 2). Other than Boston only Philly has a strong possibility of knocking the Pens out in the east.  Philly doesn't stand much of a chance against the Rangers though.

Anyways, I see the East as follows:

Boston over Detroit

Pittsburgh over Columbus

Montreal over Tampa Bay

New York over Philadelphia

Then

Boston over Montreal

Pittsburgh over New York

Boston over Pittsburgh (sadly)

Hmmmm ok Ryan, just because there actually weren't ever any African slaves in the UK but hundreds of thousands of them in the USA and just because Uncle Sam couldn't even colonize Vietnam whilst a THIRD of the world's population were part of the British Empire in our heyday there's no need to start getting petty n juvenile is there?

@ObeseChipmunk  For what it's worth I like the Leafs, Toronto has more Glasgow Rangers Supporters Clubs than anywhere else in the world after cities within Britain.

Of course shit hole Boston is the same for the other mob, it's infested with supporters clubs of the Glasgow terrorist appreciation society. Just look at the name of the scummy basketball team from there, so I feel your pain mate.

Don't worry in time the Leafs will be back, you have the most loyal passionate fans of any team in the NHL! So just like the Rangers have had to rise from the basement of Scottish football these last couple of years, the good times will return in Toronto.

Yes they do. But Canada is all about the game. A few years back i was in Canada and the wings played the leafs, the wings won and i did something stupid. I yelled, go wings! I was almost killed that night. I forgot where i was until i got the look if death frim every one in the bar.

@RossRichard  Well keep in mind, it actually correctly predicted the Superbowl winner 8 out of 11 times.  That's not too bad, although I don't know how many of those were really obvious :).

@RossRichard  So by your logic, I will be more than happy to expect the Sharks to win it all. About damned time, too.

@RossRichard They got it half right.  Just like EA got this one half right.  Bruins Ducks.  Heard it here first.

olddadgamer
olddadgamer

@Namgis They did just fine without him.  He's great, but Millar and Bartkowski filled the void better than anyone could have hoped.  And we still have big Z and Boychuk, who is one of the more underrated players in the game.

And, as they say, your best defender is in goal.  And if Rask doesn't win the Vezina this year, someone bribed someone.

olddadgamer
olddadgamer

@texasgoldrush Yeah.  Didn't follow the west much, but when the B's played them.... that's a good team.

Suaron_x
Suaron_x

I'm still not used to the new playoff format...it's also impossible for the Pens to meet Tampa Bay in Round 2 of the playoffs this year as well.  Philly and New York are the only two possibilities for Pittsburgh in Round 2.  Just as Tampa and Montreal are the only two possibilities for Boston to meet in Round 2.

olddadgamer
olddadgamer

@Suaron_x You're probably right, but Pitt's gonna have trouble with Bobrovsky.  That dude is hotter than hellfire right now.

RossRichard
RossRichard

@olddadgamer @RossRichardYeah they got it 'half right', they waited till a few days before Superbowl before saying this, when it had been known that Denver was going to play Seattle for over a week.

olddadgamer
olddadgamer

@Suaron_x I know.  It's weird.  Liked it better the other way.  What's the point of the best record if you're gonna get the Habs in round 2?  Silly.

Pitt should be a Philly fan.  They'd crush the Flyers.

May I suggest you look at everywhere south of California, New Mexico, Texas and Arizona or look across to Europe to see what real sports fans are. #NoPyroNoParty #Ultras #Casuals #AgainstModernFootball

@IamTheBesteva

Bruins are Leafs' biggest rivalry?  Really?  Not sure if reciprocal.

Ask the Bruins and they'll probably say the Habs are their biggest rivalry.

olddadgamer
olddadgamer

@IamTheBesteva @olddadgamer@rob9999991I'm ashamed to admit it, but I turned it off when it was 4-1, checked again when it was 4-2, turned it off.  Then turned it on cuz I figured that it was at least my duty to watch the post game show, and when I saw 4-4, OT I thought that it was a misprint on the screen.  But I saw Bergie's goal, so I regained my Broons cred.

And thanks for the Boston Strong.  Sad day, here.

IamTheBesteva
IamTheBesteva

@olddadgamer @IamTheBesteva@rob9999991 Leafs biggest rivalry are the Bruins, and I love when they play against each other (even though the Leafs usually lose all of them). Playoffs last year were fun to watch except the last 10-15 minutes of game 7.
