The Best Comic Book Battles This Week

It's a good thing not everyone gets along in comics.

Comments

Comics often feature huge fights between superheroes and supervillains. Sometimes we even have superheroes fighting other superheroes. Get ready to cheer (and possibly cringe) at the brutal punches being thrown in this week's selection of best battles.

There will be some spoilers below!

Black Widow #1

(By Chris Samnee, Mark Waid, and Matthew Wilson)

Black Widow has been in many fights as a former spy and a member of the Avengers. This issue opens up with Natasha fighting her way through an office building with the order given to stop her "at any cost."

Black Widow is able to plow through everyone with ease.

As the fight carries them through a wall, we discover a swarm of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that join in on the fight. As she becomes surrounded, a large agent manages to grab her from behind.

It's not fully clear, at this point, why Black Widow is fighting the organization she's often worked with. To add to the chaos of the conflict, we eventually discover she's fighting on a helicarrier when she jumps through a window into the open air.

The fight continues in the city below. One S.H.I.E.L.D. agent refuses to give up the chase. It soon turns into a brutal one on one battle between the two.

The fight's not quite over yet. It's about to get even more intense, but we'll let you pick up the issue to see how what exactly happens next.

Deadly Class #19

(By Rick Remender, Wes Craig, and Jordan Boyd)

This series is set in San Francisco in the 80s. Life at the Kings Dominion School of the Deadly Arts isn't easy. The students just discovered their final exams require students coming from a legacy of assassins to hunt down and kill the unaffiliated ones (known as "Rats"). Marcus Lopez and some of his friends have decided to flee the school and try their luck on the streets of San Francisco.

The issue opens with Viktor and his gang chasing after a Rat named Billy. There is no concern over civilian casualties. As Billy runs through the city, Viktor is right on his heals inflicting damage left and right.

Billy is just barely keeping one step ahead. Ducking in an alley, he reveals his hiding place in a dumpster in order to whack Viktor from behind.

The hit doesn't do too much damage. Viktor grabs the metal rod and delivers a blow on Billy. After punching and kicking Billy a few more times, Viktor corners him at the end of the alley. Viktor pulls out his father's knife to finish Billy off. His only defense is a broken shard of glass. Instead of using it on Viktor, Billy cuts a rope tied down next to him, setting off a trap they set up for Viktor and his friends.

You might be surprised to know that this still doesn't put a stop to Viktor. Needless to say, Viktor is not too happy and is determined to earn his kills.

Midnighter #10

(By Steve Orlando, Hugo Petrus, ACO, and Romulo Fajardo Jr.)

Midnighter has been captured by the Amanda Waller and her Suicide Squad after he broke into one of their installations and destroyed a stolen weapon. Waller attempted to have her agents torture him for information, but it appears he won't be giving in. Turning things up, Midnighter appears to be escaping while getting blasted.

With a computer in his brain to calculate every possible outcome in a confrontation, Midnighter already knows how he's going to take out these two. He grabs a couple pieces of the chair he was tied to and uses them as weapons.

Midnighter steals a vehicle in order to find his target who is with three other members of the Suicide Squad--Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and Parasite. A kick to Parasite's jaw knocks out some of his teeth which Midnighter uses to throw at Harley with precision. This momentarily takes her out and leaves Deadshot.

Deadshot unleashes a barrage of bullets at Midnighter and is surprised he can't hit him. Midnighter makes it clear he already knows how this fight is going to end. Midnighter then gets shot, and Deadshot moves in over him for the kill. This was all part of Midnighter's plan. He grabs Deadshot's hands and uses his strength to crush them.

Unfortunately, Midnighter realizes he's not healing as quickly as he should. Parasite is absorbing Midnighter's powers, and the tables are about to be turned on Midnighter once again.

We'd show you what happens next but we're out of time!
