The Amazing Spider-Man coming to PS Vita

Sony confirms 2012 action game launching for PlayStation Vita on November 19 for $40; developed by Mercenary Technology.

Beenox's 2012 action game The Amazing Spider-Man will be released for PlayStation Vita on November 19 for $40, Sony announced today on the PlayStation Blog. The game's PS Vita port was originally revealed through an ESRB listing.

Mercenary Technology is handling the port

According to executive producer Bill Chinn, The Amazing Spider-Man for PS Vita will maintain the "same spirit" of the console version, while "adding new energy" from the system's various features.

The game's Web Rush system--through which players can slow down time and determine how to move through the city of Manhattan--can be accessed through the PS Vita's touch screen. In addition, players will be able to pinch and zoom on the game's map to set waypoints and track locations.

Lastly, The Amazing Spider-Man on PS Vita makes use of the system's gyroscopic functionality to allow players to snap photos by aiming the device like they would an actual camera.

they should have called it something else, like spectacular spiderman it would seem like less of a port.

If I had a Vita I'd pick this game up.

Easily one of the better games of 2012, swinging through the city, finding hidden comics and hidden costumes to wear is heaps of fun and most of the boss battles are epic.  The car chases were my favourite quests though, my only complaint would be that some of the graphics look a bit dated.

That was a waste of development money.

I just hope they spare the poor souls of the awful motion-blur. Other than that, the game was fun.

Might be interested, if it supported cross-buy with the PS3 version

Eh, just wait for the sequel. Don't waste time with a year-old game.

This is probably the best spidey game, chances are that they would make a worse game if they were trying for a new one...

Just what the Vita needs an unoriginal game thats a year old, what the fuck is Sony thinking? I want either 3rd party games that are exclusive to 3ds or first party titles that arent FPS

Cool. Spider Man games are generally pretty good fun.

well it's a game so I'm not complaining. I wish they would port some of the best selling PS2 games to the Vita. That would be sweet.

@krystyla  i Enjoyed it on ps3 but taht is about it, Spider man game was good but i wont be playing it on vita, its a waste of money for me, I would prefer something like gravity rush exclusives to release on  VIta

I don't think Sony has much to do with this. It's likely just Activision trying to wring a little extra money out of it's Spider-Man game license. Not the most offensive thing I've ever seen.

Of course none of that excuses how awful the game was on any platform, but still.

Agreed.

And if they made a Vita version of some of the PS2/Xbox/GC era Spider-Man games, even better.
