TOKYO--We've had a couple of opportunities to play Chrono Trigger, and Square Enix made sure that this SNES gem had its own area as well as a new trailer. On the show floor of the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix had a giant screen that played trailers throughout the day. Once you hear Yasunori Mitsuda's powerful score for Chrono Trigger, it's hard not to get caught up in the excitement.

The trailer showed a lot of beautiful artwork done by Akira Toriyama, which flashed onscreen along with gameplay footage. There was also a gallery on the show floor that had the artwork framed for people to see. The cast of Chrono Trigger was introduced one by one, accompanied by their hand-drawn portrait. Snippets of gameplay video were also included, but it was mostly of battles and exploring the overworld map in different time periods. If you remember the original game, the motorcycle race was also included, which brought back fond memories.

Two Nintendo DS systems appeared onscreen at one point, and we saw them quickly show what seemed like a fighting arena, but we couldn't be sure. It has been difficult to get information on the multiplayer, and the trailer certainly didn't help either. The trailer also mentioned the new area that is included, but it looks like all the new stuff is going to have to be experienced firsthand when you purchase the game. Chrono Trigger DS will be released on November 20, so be sure to check back then for our full review.
