TGS 2000: More Impressions of Kengo: Master of Bushido

Read more of our thoughts on Kengo for the PlayStation 2.

The development team that was behind the Bushido Blade series on the PlayStation is putting together another samurai fighting game for the PS2 titled Kengo. While the game is still in the early stages of development, it's easy to see from the early build on display at the TGS that Kengo will have all of the ingredients of the Bushido Blade games, including different stances and lots and lots of blood.

The one thing that is still uncertain is whether Kengo will have the sudden-death style of the Bushido Blade games. In the demo we played, Kengo features life bars that let the warriors sustain quite a bit of damage before keeling over. Kengo also has a Samurai Shodown-style rage gauge that catches on fire when full. Currently the game only features two playable characters with similar styles. The control still needs a bit of fine-tuning, but judging from what we've played, the game seems as though it will have a very similar control scheme to that of the Bushido games.
