Tekken Revolution receiving major update in July

New patch to feature additional characters, "enhanced" arcade mode, and increased level cap.

by

Namco Bandai has announced that its free-to-play fighting game Tekken Revolution will receive a major update this month.

The next Tekken Revolution update will be due later this month.

The patch will bring an "enhanced" arcade mode, which features three difficulty levels: normal, hard, and very hard. The higher difficulties will yield better rewards for players. The game's practice mode will not require gamers to use in-game coins.

In addition, Tekken characters Hwoarang and Dragunov will be added to the game's roster. New premium effects, special moves, and character costumes will also be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store.

The game's level cap will also be increased from 50 to 60, while Namco Bandai has confirmed that the effects of the power, endurance, and vigor stats have been adjusted to further balance gameplay. Damage calculations for critical hits and rage have also been tweaked.

Fighting game fans can check out the rest of the update's features at the developer's website. The patch will arrive for European users on July 24. North American Tekken players will receive the content by the end of the month.

I just brought a purple suit for Kazuya and there is not choice to wear it. I can choose wall or no wall in practice, but can't choose suit or no suit.

i hate tekken 's way. they turned the game from mature to trendy stupid game since tekken 5.

i miss TEKKEN 4 so much. ive buyed ttt2. and gived back after 2 days. game has no value no respect its legacy. i dont need stupid character design like giant axe on your character's head. very childish very dissapointment..

This game is one of the best ps3 exclusives ever.

Well DL costumes might finally get me to actually spend money on this game, but honestly the only thing that I find annoying about it is the way you unlock people which takes far too much grinding for gift points. Other than that it's been a decent amount of free fun for me and my friends, and at least it's not a tag game.

I don't understand Tag Tournament is only 20 freaking dollars! You get a complete game versus wasting loads of money on this "free" one.

Played it, got the trophies, didn't see a reason to keep playing since it literally forbids me to keep playing unless I buy stupid coins, sure it's free but I already had Tekken Tag 2 so I had no good reason to keep playing an incomplete version of Tekken

After i played Tekken Revolution for awhile i got TTT2 so i guess it did it's job

I am really enjoying this F2P game.  This gives you just enough to get a taste and be happy with it.

Unlocking characters takes too long it is off putting tbh. I hope they increase gift points per fight.

I still haven't got to play as my main (Xiao) or my subs (Jin, Hwoarang) so I can't really compare to TTT2 or decide if I like the new elements.

But it is fun to play online for the lulz and the lag actually isn't bad, given my below average connection speed.

Excited for the update and practice mode is much needed.

I love Tekken, but Revolution needs more characters.  I get sick of fighting the same ones all the time.  New costumes will help reduce the monotony a bit as well.  I like the new modes/difficulties.  Hopefully they will add some trophies to go with them.

As if Tekken wasn't bad enough, this revolution version is a total cash grab.

It will be interesting to see how Team Ninja does their F2P version of DOA5U

Now THAT is a real fighting game, not this "juggle your opponent" and "turn into a demon" Nonsense.

(Granted, DOA has ninjas... >.<....) But the rest of the roster are at least normal people with normal fight styles.

I would say the main problem is money. After maxing a character, there is no money for a second or third character.

With the new update you'll also be able to "enable/disable character enhancement when creating or searching for a session".

That should address a lot of complaints, well done.

and i still take Tekken 6 or TTT2 over this. I just dont see why youd want to play a gimped non fair semi pay to win version of tekken.

downloaded the game, got all the trophies, deleted the game

didnt spend a cent, pretty nice deal :)

Excellent, I love Revolution. Wish it had more trophies though, but Revolution is still a lot of fun. Fast, simpler, more enjoyable than Tekken 6. Online play has been flawless. Loading times are non-existant and leveling is very addictive.

This is great news. I'm really enjoying the game so far, I'm glad it's getting good support. I look forward to the update.

This is excellent news. I'm so glad they're adjusting stats and critical damage. Hopefully tuning stats way down. It's no fun being matched against players with 3 to 4 times your stat investment.

I just wish there were optional characters to buy on the PlayStation Store. I don't like having to grind out GP for them. I'd much prefer to hand over a few dollars for a particular character.

And why cant street fighter do this and not make an ultra edition. :(

@meedokicky yeah, Although, you could make multiple PSN accounts (maybe even sub accounts) and alternate between them. Just don't buy anything from the subs.

@green_scorpion yeah it is like Kazuya 90% of the time lol but it actually brought some good, I learned to block some of his moves more often.

@Gen007 I agree, I tried this out and it's crap. You can't even play as Jin for F's sake.

Lest I give them more money.

ThreeVo

@kasumi45 because nobody worth their shit in the FGC gives a crap about revolution on a competitive/serious level.

Ultra is a prime example of a game who knows exactly who its targeting.

I would take a new version of a beloved and still insanely popular fighting game for a measly 15 dollars over a washed out f2p featureless skeletal version of a beloved fighting game,  all the while TTT2 is out and doing work.

@meedokicky @supermarioooooo i miss tekken 4 so much. but people need to see explosions ,characters need to fight in a spaceship. Full of meanless endings. and bullshit FORCE MODE. yes people didnt like tekken 4 and since tekken 5 all we have is these negative tthings.

meedokicky
meedokicky

@Threesixtyci well it is still too much fighting as characters I am not good with lol might as well pick a new main.

@Emerald_Scott @VenkmanPHD The same way your complaining about a comment on a free game site. But if the game sells gold coins you can't use but it's free excuse anymore if people invested some real world money into it.

meedokicky
meedokicky

@supermarioooooo @meedokicky I loved Tekken4 too, and I am not so fond of the clumsy things they've added later on. but I still enjoy each version on its own. Tekken 5 DR was pretty good actually, and a lot of hardcores praise it. Tekken 6 brought in a few new things, but was boring balance wise. TTT2 is just pure craziness and aggressive! Tekken R is... idk, trying to look a bit like SF. but the online is pretty good!

Kiaininja
Kiaininja

@Emerald_Scott @Kiaininja @VenkmanPHD Well not trying to start an argument here just being hypothetical. But asking why he/she is complaining comes off like for example if an intruder is lounging on your backyard and you come out and say "Why are you on my yard", it's hard to deduct from the phrase that you are trying to make friends with the stranger. The only way I could of interpret the comment as a positive reply was if it was phrase like "Well look at the good side, at least it's free."

Emerald_Scott
Emerald_Scott

@Kiaininja @Emerald_Scott @VenkmanPHD So replying to a comment automatically means I'm complaining, too? Interesting logic right there.

And hypothetically, even if I had been in a mood to complain, you couldn't have deduced that from that single sentence.

Yomigaeru
Yomigaeru

@Strider8009 Well, it's certainly recycled, because it's basically just Capcom using the DLC model to keep Street FIghter IV alive long after it's initial release. It's actually the very reason DLC exists in the first place (in an ideal sense, anyway).
