Last year, Sony lost one of its long-time exclusive franchises when Namco Bandai revealed that Tekken 6 would be arriving on the Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation 3. Today, Sony received a consolation prize of sorts when Namco expanded the list of platforms for the fighting game to include the PlayStation Portable.

As with its console counterparts, Tekken 6 for the PSP is set for release this fall. However, Namco is promising a handful of features unique to the handheld edition. The PSP version of the game will include extra stages and customization items, as well as additional unspecified content.

Tekken 6 players on the go will also be able to upload their character data so that other players can download and fight against artificial-intelligence "ghosts" based on their own tendencies.

Tekken 6 will be the series' second appearance on the PSP. Tekken: Dark Resurrection was released on the portable to much acclaim in July of 2006, and remains GameSpot's highest-rated PSP game of all time.
